Melt the margarine. Add the sugar, eggs, salt, soda, flour and pineapple. Mix well.
Stir in the nuts.
Bake in a 9 x 13 pan at 350° for about 40 minutes. Test for doneness.
Cool on a rack. When completely cool, dust with confectioners sugar and cut into squares.
Store in the refrigerator.
