Full of flavor, these old-fashioned bars will bring back memories
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup margarine or butter
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
Topping
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Heat oven 350°
In small mixer bowl combine all crust ingredients. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until particles are fine (1 to 2 minutes). Press on bottom of 8-inch square baking pan. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
In medium bowl combine all toppings ingredients; mix well. Pour evenly over hot crust.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until topping is set in center.
