Butter cookie sheets.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Stir in chopped figs and chocolate chips.
Sift flour, salt and spices. Beat this into the first mixture, and add oatmeal.
Drop by tsp. onto cookie sheets. Bake at 325º for 15 minutes. Cool on rack
