Cream shortening, 1 cup brown sugar, and white sugar.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves and set
aside.
Add eggs, raisins or nuts, fruit cocktail, vanilla, and almond extract
to first mixture. Add dry ingredients and mix.
Drop from small teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375º for 10-12 minutes.
Cover with icing when cookies are cool.
For icing mix 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup cold water, and 1/2 stick of butter. Bring to boil for about 1 minute. Let cool a bit. Add enough powdered sugar to bring to medium consistency.
