2002 Year in Review
This year I am writing something each month rather than waiting till the end of the year and forgetting half the stuff.
Started the new year on January 1st. We ended up staying home and everyone but me fell asleep before midngiht. On January 16th, Federated Department Stores announce they were closing Fingerhut and disposing of the business. We'll have to see what happens to my job in the upcoming months.
February
The boys and I went to the Winter Carnival Parade in downtown St. Paul and watched the fireworks after.
Still no word on whether Fingerhut is going to be sold or shut down.
March
April
We took a mini-vacation during Austin's Spring break. We spent two nights at the Great Serengeti water park in the Holiday Inn in Owastonna, MN.
Peter Lytle is still trying to buy Fingerhut, but so far hasn't.
May
It's still been a cold Spring. Temperatures have been below normal most of the time. We found out Peter Lytle isn't going to buy Fingerhut, but two weeks later Ted Deikel says he wants to buy it. We have to wait 2 weeks to see if he can make it happen. You'll have to read on to see what happens in June.
June
Austin had his last day of Kindergarten this month. He did so much this year and it was really fun to see him perform in the school concerts throughout the year.
As for Fingerhut, it looks like Ted Deikel and Tom Petters are going to part a large portion of it and try starting it up again. The don't know how many current Fingerhut employees they will need.
Summer is in full swing. We went to the cabin for the 4th and watched fireworks in Longville.
We went to the Anoka County fair and went on a lot of rides. We tried going again the following Sunday, but it rained too hard and we turned around and went home.
August
I brought my Super Bee to the car show at White Bear Dodge.
Our 10 year anniversary is on the 22 of this month, but we didn't make any extravagent plans.
Kit's sister from California came with her husband and 2 daughters. We brought the kids to the state fair and they had a great time.
September
October
Austin turned 7 years old on the 21st. It also snowed today and left an inch or two on the ground.
