I Will Not Forget
by Kaitlyn(me)

The silent nights passed by
Without the dreaded news.
Prayers were said more frequently.
They fought and did not lose.

The trenches drenched in blood,
The bodies all around.
The memories drifted through his head
As he knelt down on the ground.

After sadness, came rejoicing!
The end of death did come.
That day, the 11th of November,
Was the end of death for some.

Our flag was flown, the victory ours,
But many now lay dead.
Soldiers fought, the battle won,
Remembered with poppies red.

So wear a poppy on this day,
And please do not forget,
The sacrifice they gave for us
And the example that they set.
