Minutes from September 23, 2002

 

 

tAttendance:  Sean, Elisheva, Cynthia, Lindsay, Geoff, Chris, Collin, Chantelle, Laurel, Andrea, Michelle, Scott, Nina, Brent, Cara, Angie, Luke.

 

 

1.  Magazine Subscriptions

tRight now we currently subscribe to Genre, Curve, and Out, we have renewed out subscriptions to these magazines and also subscribed to SIREN.

 

 

2.  Condoms

          tKendra has just ordered 5000 condoms, they should be here shortly.

 

 

3.  Books/Magazines

tWe’re still looking for new material to add to our library, so keep brainstorming, and there’s a folder with catalogues in it on the desk for people to look through.
tThe list is in the lower-right corner of the whiteboard.

 

 

4.  Movies for Coming Out Day

tWe’ve booked the MPR (Multi-purpose room) for October 11^th, and we will loop movies of a coming-out theme all day.  Featured movies will be Common Ground and Kissing Jessica Stein.
tAnother suggestion was to show the Broken Hearts Club, but we will save that for Pink Triangle Day.

 

 

5.  HOMOHOP 9

          tDJs:  Chris and Dan have been confirmed and they are very excited.

          tThe Drag Queens will be confirmed by next week.

tThe poster design has been chosen, with minor modifications to be made.  Nina and Kegan will work together to finalize the poster idea.

tThere’s a sign-up sheet, and everyone is encouraged to sign up for decorating, postering, and door shifts.

tKegan will be looking into tickets, and Kendra will make a template to send to the printers.

6.  Campus Health Nurse

tThe new campus health nurse stopped by to say hi and introduce herself recently, and she hopes we can keep a neighborly relationship going throughout the year, we are so totally stoked for this.

 

 

7.  AIDS Walk

tApart from not-so-great collective turnout (but yeah to Chantelle and her partner!), we raised $150 for AIDS research!!!

 

 

8.  Chequing Account

tKegan will sort out transferring Chantelle’s and Kendra’s names into the Chequing account to aid our business transactions.

 

 

9.  Refuge Letter

tA letter has been typed up lobbying for easier immigration for same-sex couples.  A bunch will be photocopies and left on the desk, feel free to fill one out and send it off.

 

 

10.  Maclean’s Survey

tEvery year, Maclean’s does a survey of the best schools in Canada, and U of W has for the past few years been in the top 5 (we’re at 3 right now)

          tFeel free to fill out the survey whenever you have a few minutes.

 

 

11.     Intramurals

tWe’re going to join the intra-university intramural league, with some sport, as a collective, it should be fun, we’ll see YOU on the court!
