FESTIVALS

Spring 1: New Years Day
You can choose to drink with the adults in the Inn or dance with the teenagers in Rose Square at 6PM. Can't be celebrated year 1.
Spring 8: Goddess Festival
The day before, talk to the girl of your choice and ask to escort her. If she has at least slightly more than a purple heart, she'll say yes. She'll come to meet you at your house the next morning; otherwise, go to Rose Square between 10AM and 5PM.
Spring 14: Thanksgiving Festival
If you have a kitchen and the utensils necessary for cookies, make a batch for the girl(s) of your choice and give them to her. Otherwise, just give her a gift she likes. Oh, don't give Karen cookies; she hates them.
Spring 18: Local Horse Race
If your horse is grown, it can enter; otherwise just bet on other racers. You'll generally lose money, but it's worth it if you get the Power Berry. If your horse wins, you get a nice photograph for your house.
Spring 22: Cooking Festival
Enter a homemade dish if you have a kitchen; otherwise, you can try a spa-boiled egg (but you won't win). Good choices if you want to win: Relaxation Tea (with honey), or Curry with as many toppings as possible.
Summer 1: Opening Day
Head to the beach from 10AM-5PM to take part in a Swimming Contest. If you win, you get a power berry. (After that, a single piece of lumber). A strategy I use: rest whenever your face isn't smiling during the first half, but don't rest at all when you're near the end.
Summer 7: Chicken Festival
Your chicken can sumo wrestle with other hens. Take a hen with a lot of hearts with you to the square from 10AM-5PM. Rick will explain how to play the game; follow his instructions, and you should do well. It's generally best not to "urge your chicken on" until the other chicken is in the air. If you win, your chicken will lay golden eggs.
Summer 12: Tomato Festival
First choose a team based on which people you want to like you more. Then you'll play three rounds of tomato-throwing; win, and your teammates will like you.
Summer 20: Cow Festival
Barley will come the day before to ask you if you want to enter a cow. Choose the cow with the most hearts (as long as it is grown, isn't pregnant, and doesn't already give gold milk). If it has 10 hearts, you'll win, and your cow will give golden milk.
Summer 24: Fireworks Display
Head down to the beach at 6PM. Ask the girl of your choice (or Kai, but you have to ask him a few days in advance, while he's at the inn) to watch with you to raise her heart level. If she's slightly higher than a purple heart, she'll say yes.
Fall 3: Music Festival
This festival's pretty simple. Carter will come to your house the day before to ask you if you'll play the ocarina (if you say no, Popuri will). The next day, go to the church at 6PM, and you'll get to hear a nice little song and raise villagers' affection for you.
Fall 9: Harvest Festival
Bring something yummy to eat to the square from 10AM-5PM. (Green peppers or eggs work well). Throw it in the pot, and latery ou'll see how everyone else liked it. You can also fish in the hot pot before you eat.
Fall 13: Moon Viewing Day
At 6PM, head for the very top of Mother's Hill. The girl with the highest affection rating will be waiting for you. Say you'll stay with her, and her affection will rise.
Fall 21: Sheep Festival
Barley will come the day before to ask you if you want to enter a sheep. Choose the one with most hearts (as long as it is grown, isn't pregnant, and doesn't already give gold wool). Make sure that your sheep will have wool on the DAY BEFORE the festival, since you can't enter a sheared sheep. One year I planned it so that my sheep would have wool the day of the festival and then I couldn't enter at all! Anyways, if your ewe has 10 hearts, you'll win, and your sheep will give golden wool.
Winter 10: Dog Race
If your dog is full grown and you've been playing fetch a lot, you have a good chance of winning this festival. Zack will come the day before to take your dog; just show up from 10AM-5PM and follow the instructions. Oh, you don't have to be RIGHT in front of your dog; just go back for him if he's lagging behind.
Winter 14: Winter Thanksgiving
Stay on your farm all day today. If any girl has at least a purple heart, she'll drop by your farm to give you something yummy. Purple/blue heart girls give you chocolate (make sure you have at least 2 girls with a purple or blue heart the year before you get married, or you'll never get chocolate!), and green or higher means chocolate cake!
Winter 24: Star Night Festival
All you have to do today is show up at the house of the girl of your choice at 6PM. If she likes you enough, it will be unlocked, and you can have a nice dinner with her and her family, raising all of their affection levels!
Winter 30: New Year's Party
At around midnight, go to the top of Mother's Hill and you'll get to watch the sunrise with a few of your fellow villagers. Oh, be sure to talk to Saibara last; otherwise you won't get to talk to everybody.
