U.S. Federal Route 82 is a east-west highway in Bowie County. Most of this highway runs along the Interstate 30 corridor through the county.

On Monday, December 26, 2005 the Bowie County Commissioners Court agreed to pay the county's share of the cost of rthe highway to be widened from New Boston and DeKalb. The counties portion is about $7,500 and the Texas Department of Transportation is $75,000 for right-of-way land purchase. Most of the land lies along the intersection with Texas Farm-to-Market 2789.*
