Kaylie shot a look over to where Nick was standing dejectedly and then saw Mandy approaching.
"Who's she?" Lynsey asked as she pointed to Mandy who was now yelling across the parking lot to Nick who stood between her and AJ like a deer caught in the headlights.
"Mandy. Nick's, err, girlfriend." Kaylie said simply.
"Shouldn't you go help him?" Lynsey inquired. Kaylie stood there for a second and then slightly nodded her head.
"Ya, I guess, you go over there and stand with Brian and your mom ok?" Kaylie said before she walked off in Nick's direction.
* * *
Oh wonderful! Her too! Nick thought to himself as he saw Kaylie heading in his direction too. What did I do to her now?! He groaned as he saw her smile at him. What?! He looked once again and the smiled then told him to play along. Nick read her lips and nodded a bit, a soft grin playing on his mouth. Why's she doing this? I've done nothing nice to her in the past day, month, year, give or take a few... Nick joked to himself as Mandy walked up. He could still feel the heat on his back from where AJ was still glaring at him but right now he was forced to deal with Mandy.
"Nicky! Where were you?! How could you just leave me like that?? Don't you care?? I could have been killed! Are you so stupid to just leave me alone like that?!" Mandy raged on as Kaylie approached. She walked right through the two and wrapped her arms around Nick causing Mandy to stand there speechlessly. Nick grinned at this and watched as her face contorted into horrible things.
"What the HELL are you doing touching him like that?!" She screamed causing people to look over at the three.
"Oh, I'm sorry, did I interrupt your conversation? Nickers, you've got a little something right here." She said coyly as she pointed to a spot on his bottom lip. As he reached to Kaylie took his hand. Out of the corner of her eye she watched as Mandy's face turned red with anger, though she kept silent. Standing up on her tip toes she softly kissed Nick's lips and then smiled.
"There, all gone! So, what were you two talking about?" She said sweetly as Nick intertwined their hands. Kaylie quietly rested her head on his chest as she smiled, waiting for Mandy to explode. From the moment she met Mandy Kaylie didn't like her. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but there was something about the girl that pissed her off to no end.
"How, how, how DARE you do that!!!" She screeched throwing her arms around wildly. Nick looked at her confused.
"What Mandy? She was just helping me out." Nick smiled. He leaned down and kissed Kaylie gently. "Thanks hun."
"You, you bastard! We're THROUGH! I can't believe you!!" She yelled before she stomped off.
"Ya! You've said that before!" Nick yelled jokingly at her back as she retreated.
After she was out of sight Kaylie stepped away from Nick and started to walk away from him but Nick quickly grabbed onto her arm.
"Why'd you do that??" He questioned as he ran a hand through his already spiky hair. Kaylie scoffed, almost hurt.
"Hey, it wasn't the greatest kiss for me either!" She spat out angrily.
"No! Not that, that was fine." Nick smiled slightly. "What I meant, was why did you do it? Help me out?" He asked nervously.
"No reason in particular. Well, actually, there's at least one." She laughed. "I don't like her. I guess..." She trailed off.
"What? I don't like her much either, not anymore at least. She wasn't always like that." Nick said quietly. "Anyway, you guess what?"
"Sorry." Kaylie said softly.
"It's not your fault. Anyway, go on!" Nick urged.
"Well, I guess I owe you an apology. When I said all that stuff to you about you the other day I didn't really realize how she was. I mean, I couldn't because I'd never met her. So really I was speaking out of turn. I shouldn't judge people without meeting them. I've really got to learn how to do that..." Kaylie rambled on. Nick smiled at her as she thought out loud and laid a hand on her shoulder which quieted her.
"Really, it's fine. And as weird as it was, thanks for helping me out here. It was really nice of you. You don't by chance think you could help me get out of this mess with AJ do you?" He smirked cheekily.
"Nope Carter, sorry. I like AJ." She laughed as they walked over to where the rest of the group stood slack jawed.
"Must you call me Carter?! I don't think you've ever called me Nick, and over there with Mandy didn't count." He protested. "And why do you like AJ? You just kissed me, THE Nick Carter." He joked around.
"You haven't earned me calling you anything other than Carter yet. As for AJ, he's like a brother. I love him, he loves me, we pick on each other, we stick up for each other, stuff like that. We've all grown up with each other. You should know that by now. You aren't THAT blonde." Kaylie joked softly.
"Ya, but you grew up with me too, and you still call me Carter. Think that'll ever change?" Nick asked quietly.
"We may have grown up together, but we've got a way to go. You'll get there. We've got to be friends first though." She said quietly as she saw Brian for the first time since her show. His shoulders were slumped and it seemed that his whole person was sad. She couldn't tell for sure from where she was standing but she thought she saw tears in his eyes. I did that to him. I can't believe I did that to him. I don't want to get hurt, but I can't hurt him either. She thought quietly.
"You think we'll ever be friends?" Nick asked softly.
"I hope so. If not for us, for him." Kaylie returned nodding in Brian's direction. Brian saw them and turned away. Nick watched as Howie put an arm around him and they started for his car. I can't believe I did that. To my best friend. He's hurting and it's all my fault. He thinks I'm stealing his girl. Nick thought as another idea made it's way into this thought process. What if I was? He looked down at Kaylie who was staring at Brian's retreating back and felt his heart constrict. I may not yet, but it wouldn't be such a bad idea. He thought, all memory of Brian's Kaylie flew out his mind that very minute.
* * *
She, she, ok, so maybe she had a reason. That's why she kissed him. But she kissed him. And held on to him. Like it meant something. That should have been me! But NO, she KISSED him! Brian thought distressed. He and Howie were seated in his car and waiting for the others to start to leave because they didn't know the way to the station.
"You ok Rok? I'm sure she's got a reason for it. Really. Calm down ok?" Howie said softly. In his rearview mirror he saw Kaylie running up to the car. Brian hadn't seemed to notice yet.
"B, she's coming." Howie whispered. Brian dropped his head into his hands and Howie could tell he had let the tears start to fall from his eyes.
"You want me to tell her to go away?" He asked quietly. Brian shook his head and Howie gulped as Kaylie tapped on his window. He rolled it down and looked at her. He didn't understand it, but there was pain in her eyes too. Maybe she just feels guilty. He thought darkly.
"Howie, can I please talk to him?" She said quietly as she looked at Brian through the window. Howie nodded and hit the unlock button allowing her to enter the car. She stood there for a second without entering and then spoke again.
"Alone possibly?" She asked a little annoyed. Howie looked at Brian and then back to Kaylie and opened the door to leave the car. Before he left he looked at her.
"I've always liked you Kaylie. You're like my little sister. But he's my brother, and that comes first. Don't hurt him anymore than you already have." He said harshly before walking away. Kaylie nodded and then lowered herself into the car. Brian didn't even acknowledge her just sat there, head still in his hands.
"Bri?" She said softly. Still, nothing.
"Bri, please, talk to me." She asked again, placing a hand on his back. When he didn't shrug it off she began to rub it softly.
"Please Bri, don't shut me out like this. Yell at me, anything, but don't do this." She begged, her hand still on his back as she lifted his chin with the other. He looked up at her, his eyes red and puffy, his face tearstained.
"Why?" He choked out. Kaylie sighed.
"He needed help. Mandy was going to tear him apart. And I don't like her. And you wanted us to be friends, so I went and helped him out." She said softly, her answer sounding feeble even to her own ears. Tears slid down her own face as she looked at his in pain. He was never going to believe her and she had just screwed up the best thing that may have happened to her.
"Ok." Brian said softly taking her hands in his. "I've got to believe that's all it is, cause I don't want to loose you."
Kaylie looked up in surprise.
"You thought I wasn't going to believe you didn't you?" Brian laughed softly. Kaylie simply nodded her head in response.
"Well, come here." He said pulling her into his arms as they sat in the car.
"It hurt Kay, I'm not going to say it didn't because it did. But I've got to believe you because I love you. And I know you need your time. And with all that stuff with Ryan you need to get over. And Lynsey even told me some stuff." He said smiling. "But, I wanna try this." He said as he looked into her eyes.
"Bri, I, I don't wanna get hurt again." She said quietly as she looked away from his gaze.
"I know, and I've got a little surprise for you about that one, but we've got to get going ok?" He said gently and he kissed her forehead. Kaylie smiled and leaned back in his arms.
"Kay, I said we've got to get going. Not to go and get comphy on me, not that I mind." Brian laughed. She moved over into the passenger side of the car and looked out the window. Brian took her hand again as they drove over to where the guys were all waiting in their respective cars.
"It's all going to be all right Kay, believe in me 'k?" He said softly as he squeezed her hand and followed the others' cars out of the parking lot on the way to the radio station.
* * *
Nick, AJ, and Kevin drove along in silence. Nick kept stealing glances over to AJ to see him in turn glare at him while Kevin chuckled every time he got caught looking.
"J! I didn't meant it to happen!" Nick whined. AJ just sat there staring ahead at the road.
"AJ! Come on now! How was I to know she would think you were with Mandy? I'M not even with her anymore! How is this my fault? It's her fault! It's all Mandy! She always screws things up!" Nick complained as AJ looked over at him.
"You know, you may do it a lot and the fans think it's cute, but whining's really not a good look for you." He said dryly.
"AJ, you're upset over Katie? And you've met her all of an hour ago?" Kevin laughed. AJ crossed his arms across his chest defensively.
"Shut up." He said gruffly. Nick scooted up from the back seat of the car and rested his arms on the seats in front of him receiving a scowl from AJ for being so close.
"Kev! It wasn't my fault! Really! He doesn't even know her!" He said excitedly.
"We've met before!" AJ protested. Kevin rolled his eyes.
"Ya, once or twice six years ago." He laughed.
"But still! Dumbass over there just screwed up everything for me..." He muttered. "It wasn't my fault!" Nick protested throwing his hands up in the air.
"Seriously, AJ, do you REALLY think Katie's back at her job wallowing in misery over you? A person she's met an hour ago??" Kevin questioned while glancing over to AJ. AJ sat there silently and stared ahead. Nick burst out laughing.
"Omigod! You do! You really do! You think she's heartbroken! You're SO full of yourself!" He laughed as AJ whipped around and stared him into silence.
"Bone, really, forget about it. I'm sure she has. You two aren't each others type anyway." Kevin explained knowingly as he pulled into the parking lot of the radio station. Nick sat in silence as AJ continued to glare at him. Once they were parked AJ spoke up.
"You, stay OUT of my love life." He said looking at Nick. "And you, don't assume she's not my type. Leave it alone. It's not YOUR problem." He muttered then opened the door and walked out. Kevin and Nick looked at each other.
"Man! What's HIS problem?!" Nick grumbled. Kevin looked at him and opened his door.
"I don't know, but whatever it is I suggest we do what he says and leave it alone. He does have a point. I mean, the whole Mandy thing did kind of screw him over. He needs to find out that Katie's not going to go for him on his own. THEN we can tell him we told him so!" He laughed.
"Kev! It wasn't my fault! It was all her! She just WALTZED up and Katie assumed stuff! Anyway, you really don't think anything'll happen between those two?" Nick asked.
"Well, no." He said quietly. Nick persisted.
"But you haven't seen her in a long time, she could have changed..." He trailed off letting it sink in.
"Well, ya, but you can't change THAT much." Kevin mumbled as they waited for the others to arrive.
"You don't want them dating do you! You want her for yourself!" He announced smirking. Kevin's jaw dropped in surprise.
"No! No! It's not that!" He protested as Nick's smile grew.
"Yes it is! You're jealous! You want AJ's girl!" Nick teased. Kevin turned and faced him with warning in his eyes which caused Nick to shut up.
"That's not it. Yes Katie's important to me, but not like that. She's like my little sister, and no one's going to hurt her. I know how AJ is. He better be careful with her IF anything happens, or he's going to have to answer to me. And THAT is the extent of me wanting AJ's "girl"; I WANT her to be happy. I'm not sure AJ can do that." Kevin said in an angry tone. Nick remained quite for awhile then nodded his head.
"Sorry I said anything. But really, AJ's good to his girlfriends. He wouldn't do anything INTENTIONALLY to hurt someone." He said quietly.
"That's the thing, AJ never INTENTIONALLY hurts anyone, it just seems to happen around him, and if I have anything to do with keeping Katie safe then I sure as hell am going to do what I can to do that. You can tell him I said that." He scoffed. He stood there for a second before angrily walking inside the building. Howie walked up after witnessing Kevin and Nick's spat.
"Can't we all just get along??" He laughed. "What's up with him, what'd you do to him?" He asked. Nick groaned and covered his face with his hands.
"Agh! I didn't DO anything! It was all MANDY!! I didn't DO anything!" He yelled. Howie looked at him cautiously.
"Well, alrighty then! I think I'm just going to go on inside then!" He said while looking at him curiously. Nick rolled his eyes and watched as Brian and Kaylie drove up. She could say she was sitting in the passenger seat but her body was so close to Brian's that it would be hard to believe. Her head rested on Brian's shoulder and Nick had an inkling that they were holding hands.
"Figures." He muttered to himself. Nothing's going to go right in my life right now. Of COURSE she's happy. She's got BRIAN. He thought darkly to himself. "And I'm all alone. Once again I'm all alone." He mumbled as he turned and walked into the building. He couldn't quite understand it. SHE had kissed HIM. Sure, she'd said it was only to help him out, a friendly kind of things, but they weren't even friends! And it MEANT something to him. He'd felt something. If he had, didn't that mean that she had to too? Apparently not because currently she was in a car with his best friend and not him. He wasn't about to go for Brian's girl. He wasn't that kind of person. You don't go out to steal your best friend's love. He thought as he rode the elevator up to the studio. He stared at himself in the mirrors of the elevator and noticed something. I look different. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he'd changed. He smirked to himself as his floor neared.
"I may not have been the kind of guy who takes his best friend's girl, but who the hell knows anymore." He grimaced as the doors opened and he found the guys.
* * *
Brian and Kaylie walked into the building silently. The elevator ride would have been silent too if Kaylie had not spoke up.
"Hey Bri, I think I'm going to watch from the other room k? Not be in the actual studio with you guys?" She said quietly. Brian looked up and smiled.
"Ok." He said quietly as the doors opened and they started to walk out.
"It's nothing against you or the guys or anything. I just don't want the DJ badgering me or anything." She rambled on. And I really don't wanna get hurt. She thought to herself. Brian took her hand and quickly kissed it.
"Kaylie, it's ok, really. But listen to me ok?" He asked as she looked up at him. He stopped in the hall in front of the studio door where she would be watching the interview.
"Ya?" She whispered.
"No one's going to hurt you again. Not as long as I'm around ok?" He whispered as he leaned in and kissed her forehead. He noticed the tears in her eyes and laughed. He opened the door for her and lightly pushed her inside.
"Shh. Go! I gots me a chat to do!" He joked around as he walked away. Kaylie smiled and walked inside. She couldn't believe was he said. It was if he had read her mind. Maybe he really does know me that well. Maybe we should really try at this. She thought as a small grin appeared on her face as Brian entered the studio and made a funny face at her. She giggled slightly as the interview began.
* * *
"We're here live with a surprise visit from one of Orlando's very own bands! Ladies take a deep breath!" The DJ joked as he started the interview. "The Backstreet Boys! Hey guys, how are ya? It's been a long time!"
"Good! New tour starting up in days! Can't wait for that! It's gonna be great! We've got tons of new stuff to show all the fans out there." Kevin said excitedly. Both AJ and Nick sat back in their chairs in sullen moods while the DJ, Howie, and Brian looked at them worriedly.
"We've got a few callers on the line here. You mind if we take a few calls?" The DJ asked. The guys shook their heads no and the DJ laughed. "For those of you NOT here in the studio, they all just shook their heads." He joked as they laughed. "We've got Jennifer here on the phone with us from Orlando. Hey Jennifer, say hi to the Backstreet Boys!"
"Shit, you're really there!!" She squealed then immediately caught herself. "Oh! Sorry! I didn't mean to!!"
"No problem Jen." Howie laughed. AJ and Nick seemed to perk up a bit which was good or this interview was going to be a complete bust.
"Ok, I was just wondering, AJ, you going to be doing any of your famous thrusts this tour??" She asked sweetly.
* * *
"Urgh!! The bastard!" Katie grumbled as she listened to the interview. "I should have KNOWN he was like that, playing women and all. Aren't they ALL!?" She rolled her eyes at the girls question though oddly enough she was slightly interested in the answer. She heard as AJ quit laughing and then cleared his throat.
"Well, you see, I'm only going to be doing them if there's a special lady in the house." He said suggestively. Katie could tell he had THAT grin on his face (yall know the one I'm talking about!!).
"And just who would that special lady be?" The DJ inquired.
"Um, let's just say that I'd like to take now to make clear to a certain beautiful girl who stole my eye today that that maniac WASN'T my girlfriend. Cough::NICK::cough." He joked around. Katie felt her cheeks turn red. I am not blushing! I am NOT! Stop it! Stop IT! She commanded to herself despite the fact that she was slightly pleased.
"Ahh, so, I take it you're single AJ?" The DJ asked.
"Depends on if she forgives me and give me a chance..." He laughed. This time Katie allowed herself to break out in a grin.
"I'd forgive you AJ!!" Jennifer yelled through the phone. The guys laughed as the DJ announced they were going to take another caller.
"You would!" Katie grumbled as she turned off the radio and got back to work. Her lunch break was over but before she headed back to work she planned on giving the guys a little surprise.
* * *
Kaylie laughed as Brian turned in his seat so he could see her. He kept making funny faces at her the entire time they were off the air. She noticed Kevin was watching on amused. Kaylie looked over to him and tried to no avail to read his lips. He stood up and flipped on the switch that allowed the speaker to go on in the studio. Kaylie grinned as she realized what he was doing.
"Kaylie?" Kevin asked smiling.
"Yup? Hurry up, you've only got seconds." She warned. Brian watched on interestedly.
"I TOLD YOU SO!!" He shouted as he started to laugh. Kaylie felt herself begin to blush and ducked her head down. She laughed as she heard Brian reprimand his cousin as they came on air.
"We're back with the Backstreet Boys. The two Kentucky cousins seem to be having a little spat right now." The DJ said laughing. "What's wrong guys? Girl trouble?" He asked. Kevin opened his mouth and began to speak.
"I offended Brian's Ka--" he started before Brian covered his mouth with his hand. He was laughing as the DJ continued to laugh.
"Brian's who? Would that be the beautiful young lady in the next room?" He asked sweetly as it was Brian's turn to blush.
"That'd be her..." Nick said gruffly. Kaylie looked over at him strangely. Why's he acting like that? She thought.
"Next caller please!!" Brian yelled out jokingly. The DJ obliged and got the caller on the phone.
"We've got a Jasmine on the phone. She specifically has a question for AJ and Howie. Sorry guys, seems they're they only ones getting questioned today." The DJ joked.
"Nobody loves us!" Brian laughed. Nick rolled his eyes.
"Ya right. Everyone loves you Brian." He said under his breath but audible enough for it to be picked up on the microphones. Brian quickly turned his head to face him and shot him a look. Nick glared back at him and turned around.
"Hey guys." Katie flirted. (Remember, Katie PLAYS the character Jasmine. This is not her NAME. Just thought I'd clear that up for yall!)
"Hey Jasmine." AJ and Howie chorused.
"I was just wondering, have you changed out of your Disney duds?" She laughed causing Howie to burst out laughing and AJ to blush profusely (Ha!! Katie!! Blush profusely!! OMG!! That's so hilarious!!). The DJ looked at the guys awkwardly but allowed the conversation to go on. AJ spoke up.
"Um, ya, we changed. But who knows, maybe we don't have anything on at all!" He laughed.
"I see! Well, you still up to being forgiven?" Katie smiled. You could hear her happiness thorough the phone.
"Sure, if you're the one doing it..." AJ flirted back. Kevin shot him a warning glance and AJ blew him off with a wave of his hand.
"I'll talk to you later ok? Bye Alex..." Katie said sweetly.
"Bye Katie. I'll call you!" He grinned. The DJ continued the questioning and callers until he came upon the all important question of girlfriends.
"So, who's got one? Who doesn't? Who's looking??" He asked. It took a few seconds for someone to speak up but finally Nick spoke up.
"I just broke up with my girlfriend today and would like to say that love sucks." He stated blandly while looking at Kaylie. She didn't know what to think of it so focused her attention on the other's answers.
"I'm single and always waiting for the perfect woman to show up. BUT," he emphasized, "I'm keeping my eye on someone not because I want to date her but because she will NOT get hurt while I'm around!" He said forcefully while looking at AJ. AJ stuck his tongue out and answered the question.
"Well, considering that I've been forgiven, I think I'll be having a REAL good time from now on!" He laughed.
"As of now I'm single but seeing all those women at the upcoming concerts, who knows, maybe it'll change!" Howie added. Kaylie watched intently as Brian started to answer. He was looking right into her eyes the whole time and she could tell he was really just talking to her, not the entire city of Orlando.
"I've got someone very special in my life right now who I care very much about. She's my best friend and my life, and I'd actually like to do something for her right now! Guys?" He said sweetly as he looked at her. He could tell she had tears in her eyes. Smiling at her he waved. She looked at him curiously as if to ask what he was going to do but he just shook his head and told her to sit down and watch.
"We'll come back with a performance from the Backstreet Boys right after this commercial." The DJ said as music sounded. Kaylie walked over to the window and tapped on it waiting for someone to flip the switch. Brian hurried over to it and turned it on.
"What are you going to do??" She asked.
"Just wait!!" Brian grinned as he flipped off the switch and left Kaylie nothing else to do but sit down. She watched as the guys got together much to Nick's annoyance and started to do something. Seconds later the DJ announced they were back on the air.
"We've got a special treat for everyone right now. Brian has requested that the guys not sing their hit song "Shape Of My Heart" but rather another song from their new CD Black & Blue, so here they are, the Backstreet Boys..." He said trailing off.
Brian scooted closer to the mic and looked at Kaylie intently.
"This song's for someone very special to me. She knows who she is." He said smiling. Kevin started to snap his fingers with the time and then Brian began to sing.
I can see that you've been crying
You can't hide it with a lie
What's the use in you denying
The words you have is wrong
By this time of the song Kaylie had tears in her eyes which were on the verge of cascading down her face.
I heard him promise you forever
But forager's come and gone
Baby he would say whatever
It takes to keep you blind
Tell the truth between the lines
The chorus of the song brought the tears streaming down her face. Brian looked at her through the window and smiled as he wiped his eyes as if to tell her not to cry. Kaylie tried but failed and sat there listening to them as she cried.
Oh I will love you more than that
I won't say those words, then take them back
Don't give loneliness a chance
Baby listen to me when I say
I will love you more than that
As Nick sang she noticed that his voiced seemed to catch every time he looked at her. He couldn't seem to look her straight in the eye while singing the lyrics and refused to meet her gaze for the rest of the song. She pushed the thought out of her mind as they continued to sing.
Baby you deserve much better
What's the use in holding on
Don't you see it's now or never
Cause I just can't be friends
Baby knowing in the end
That
And I will love you more than that
I won't say those words, then take them back
Don't give loneliness a chance
Baby listen to me when I say
There's not a day that passes by
I don't wonder why we haven't tried
It's not too late to change your mind
And take my hand, don't say goodbye
As they sang Brian mimicked the words saying not one day and waving goodbye. Kaylie laughed at his antics as she stopped crying. What he had done for her was beautiful and touching.
I will love you more than that
I won't say those words, then take them back
Oh I will love you more than that
I won't say those words, then take them back
Don't give loneliness a chance
Baby listen to me when I say
I will love you more than that
Oh I will love you more than that
I won't say those words, then take them back
Don't give loneliness a chance
Baby listen to me when I say
I will love you more than that
As the song ended and the red light told her she was off the air Kaylie ran from the room and into that of the studio. She was met with waiting arms from Brian who was on the other side. He embraced her immediately and just held her. She buried her head in his chest as he gently rocked back and forth. The guys quietly walked out of the room giving the two time alone. Nick was the last to leave and didn't bother trying to move around the two in the doorway but barged through knocking them off balance. He didn't even bother excusing himself. Kaylie narrowed her eyes at his retreating back as he turned around to face the two. Brian seemed oblivious to the looks the two were giving one another and continued to hold Kaylie close to him.
"What the hell is your problem!?" Kaylie spat out. "Did you NOT see what he just did for me?? Do you NOT understand how much that means?? You don't just BARGE in on people like that!! Don't you get it Carter?!" She said harshly. Brian quickly picked up his head and tried to pull Kaylie back to him as she had turned around to stare Nick down in anger.
"Kay, not now, PLEASE." He quietly begged but Kaylie brushed him off with a finger to his lips. He gently kissed it but this time it brought no smile to her face. In fact, it brought no reaction whatsoever.
Nick stood there stone faced. He looked at the man he called his best friend and the woman he used to call his enemy. Why couldn't it still be that way? Why did he have to feel this way now? He stared into Kaylie's eyes and she saw the pain and hurt in them, but couldn't figure out why it was there.
"No, Kaylie, I don't think YOU get it." He whispered as the turned and walked away.
