NARRATOR
Esteban Ruiz grows cotton in Tipitaco, Nicaragua. He has 25 acres, enough to
suppport himself, his wife, five children, and seven grandchildren. Not in
luxury, but in independence. In November, 1965, an invading army threatened
Esteban's land.
[Music begins with close-up of thin caterpillar traversing a flat surface.]
Bull worms. Eating five times their weight in cotton every day.
Bull worms by the millions.
[Extreme close-up of Esteban and grandchild (only one eye from each is showing). During the following, view moves closer and shifts to grandchild. The bull worm is smaller and is superimposed on the picture, around their eyes and child's forehead.]
NARRATOR
[continuing] Esteban faced ruin. And so did every other cotton farmer in
Nicaragua, But This Company had what they needed, a powerful carboril
insecticide called Product. We developed it to take over where DDT leaves
off. With Product you don't need special equipment. You can spray it by
hand. So we flew 50 tons of it to Nicaragua, right away.

It stopped the bull worms, dead.
