Beaded Balls
There you'll find the instructions for small and large beaded balls. They are not exactly round, I'd rather call them beaded polyhedrons, faceted beaded objects or ... Does it really matter?
|
There is the same object on the two pictures above. Each ball's facet consists of 4 beads and it reminds me a cube, not a ball.

The pattern is flat but your weaving should form 3-D object. Keep a thread tension strong!
1) Loop 4 white beads into the circle and pass the needle through one of them. This is the first facet.
2) String beads: 1 blue, 1 green, 1 blue. Pass the needle back through the white bead it just came from and make the loop from blue, green, blue, white beads. This is the second facet. Then go through another white bead from the first facet.
3) String 1 blue, 1 green bead. Turn back and string the blue bead from the 2nd facet. Make a loop with white bead, like in the previous step. You have the 3rd facet now.
4) Repeat step 3 and make the 4th facet.
5) In the 5 th loop string blue bead from the 2nd facet, add 1 green bead, pass through blue bead from the 4th facet, through white bead and go up through blue bead.
6) The last step: pass the thread through 4 green beads on the top, pull them together and knot the thread.

This ball has 5 beads in each facet. I added some embellishment which I'll explain somewhat later. You'll also find that the pattern has many common features with the previoius smaller one.
1) Loop 5 white beads to make the 1st facet.
2) To get the 2nd facet add 1 blue bead, 2 yellow, 1 blue and loop them together with white bead from the 1st facet.
3) The 3rd step shows how to add another 4 facets.
4) his ball is bigger then previous one and has more beads. String 1 green, 1 white, 1 green beads, pass through 2 yellow beads from the bottom facet and loop these 5 beads into the circle.
5) Repeat step 4 as pattern shows. This way you'll add 4 more facets.
The last step is looping 5 white beads at the top together into the last facet.

Embellishing is adding more beads to each of 12 facets: one large bead in the centre of the loop, and smaller ones between each 5 beads. Try to find them on the closeup picture of a big ball.

Look how I used beaded balls to end beaded fringes.
