We wish to remind you the famous phrase by Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Republic of Turkey, "Peace at home, peace in the world" on the occasion of September 1, World Peace Day.
Turkish Mothers Association which believes in the principles of democracy, human rights and rule of law, denounces all terrorist organizations carrying out terrorist acts to undermine world peace.
In today’s world, the condition of living in peace and security is the continuation of the struggle against criminal and terrorist organizations.
Turkey, taking its part in the family of nations, adopts and defends the principle by Kemal Ataturk, "peace at home, peace in the world".
Turkey, in a volatile region surrounded by the Balkans, Caucasus and the Middle East, tries to maintain peace and security and improves democracy while terrorist organizations try to threaten regional peace and create chaos. Even if there are undesirable events during the fight against terrorism, Turkey tries to overcome these obstacles regarding democracy and rule of law.
Turkey, which is in favour of peaceful solutions during the past 75 years of the Republic, calls all human beings irrespective of race, language, religion and culture to consolidate solidarity and cooperation for peace and security in her region.
Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is regarded by the world as a terrorist and criminal organization, has killed in the terrorist incidents more than five thousand civilians including women, children, religious men, teachers in Turkey and Northern Iraq.
Apart from its terrorist nature, it is known that the PKK is involved in Europe in such organized crimes as drugs trafficking, immigrant smuggling and money laundering. The PKK tries to hide its terrorist and criminal identity in the European public opinion by abusing such concepts as human rights, peace, and dialogue.
Therefore, to avert regional conflicts, violence, terrorist acts, starvation and environmental problems every one should act diligently and responsibly.
On this day of world peace, September 1, let’s embrace peace, love, fraternity, happiness, tolerance and universal peace in a world free from terror!
Mrs. Turkan Aksu,
Head of the Turkish Mothers Association
