Myriah Joy Dennis
March 27, 1979 - September 6, 1995
She brought joy to our lives.
Myriah (L) with sister, Diedre
Myriah Joy was born March 27, 1979 at SantaAna-Tustin Community Hospital, joining her parents, Daryl and Judith Dennis, and her sister, Diedre, and brother, Nathan. Myriah lived her whole life in Orange County, in Orange, Santa Ana, and Anaheim Hills. She participated in gymnastics and always loved to sing, writing and performing original songs. She was a Girl Scout and a member of Job's Daughters. An honor student, she enjoyed being a member of Canyon High School's swim team and looked forward to playing in Canyon's first women's water-polo season. She had begun volunteering as a Candy Striper at Western Medical Center, and looked forward to singing with Company C. Following a trememdous year and wonderful summer, she died of a sudden hemorrhage in an undetected brain tumor on September 6, 1995. The hole in our lives will never be filled. Myriah wanted to be a doctor to help people and save lives. Although she will not be able to do that now, she is continuing to help give life and healing after her death through the donation of her organs and tissues. As many as 27 people may have been helped.
Remembering Myriah
Because she had allergies, she was not allowed a furry pet. She loved her turtle, Speedy, but always wanted something cuddly. When she found that a stray cat had given birth in the family garage, she fed and nurtured the kittens secretly for several days. One of the kittens, later named "Boomer", loudly revealed his presence. A champion negotiator, Myriah persuaded her parents to keep the kittens. Through the years, she raised those cats, even training them to come when she whistled. They too will miss her.
