VA Model General
information
VA
production started in november of 1941, peaked in 1948, and 1953 stopped
(labour problems). Production restarted after few months until
1956.
Noted changes: steering on VAC (chicken roost) was changed in 1946 to a
strait drag link design with use of universal joints and worm and gear on the
front spindle.
1951 several overall changes in designs
were made. 1942 VA priced at $710. In 1948 VAO was priced at$1,113.
The continental motor used in the V Series was completely
replaced with an original Case "designed" engine built by Continental (1942
to 1947) but replaced in 1947 by Case's new Rock Island Engine
Plant The new engine had 3 and 1/4 inch bore and stroke of 3 and 3/4
inches, valve in head design, removable cylinder sleeves and three bearing
crankshaft. Operation was 1425rpm.
Case also offered the engine
with special high altitude pistons.
As well at this time Case
offered LCF (low cost fuel) system consisting of heat control manifold,
separate fuel tanks with the smaller being the starting tank, gas operated.
Three way fuel shut off was offered as well as low grade fuel
thermostat. In addition Radiator
shutters were offered. Transmission on VA's offered 4 speeds from 2 and
1/8 mph to 12 mph. Only Model in Flambeau Series line transmissions
to offer all-gear final drive. 1952 Starter and lights became
standard equipment. Eagle Hitch
