Ordre de la Couronne d'Acier

To the left and the right are the reverse and obverse of a 19th century commander's cross of the Ordre Royal et Noble de la Couronne d'Acier [Royal and Noble Order of the Steel Crown]. This order was established by King Orelie-Antoine I on December 17, 1869 at Perquenco, then the capital of the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia. On December 31, 1872, Orelie-Antoine issued new statutes for the order and changed its name to the Royal Civil and Military order of the Steel Crown. Thus, the order is, properly speaking, now an order of merit, not an order of knighthood.

This is a 19th century breast star of the order.

This is a 20th century knight's cross of the order.
