Indianapolis Opera
Indianapolis Opera
Since completing my degree in music at Indiana University, I concentrated on teaching and raising a family. In 1998, I auditioned for the Indianapolis Opera Chorus, and since that time have been given the opportunity to sing in:
1998 - The Barber of Seville, The Flying Dutchman
1999 - MacBeth, Tosca
2000 - Faust
2001 - Don Giovanni, Il Trovatore , Aida
2002 - Die Fledermaus, Samson and Dalilah, La Traviata
2003 - La Boheme, Romeo and Juliette
......and coming up in May of 2004 - Rigoletto. Some of the photos were taken with my simple Kodak APS camera backstage, while others were taken professionally by Denis Kelley who is the contracted photographer for the Indianapolis Opera.

Romeo and Juliette
These photos were taken in October 2003 during the Indianapolis Opera Premiere of Gounod's Romeo and Juliette. It was my pleasure to sing in the chorus as Gran Wilson and Ms. Pedersen played the title roles. Gran Wilson and I first sang together on the IU opera stage in 1981 during the IU production of Rigoletto in which Gran portrayed the Duke and I was fortunate enough to play the role of Borsa. In that production, Tim Noble, current professor of voice at IU and an internationally known baritone played the role of Rigoletto.
Gran Wilson as Romeo and Peterson (ME) no ... not as Juliette, but rather as a local peddler. "Alms for the poor .... opera chorus members."
Me and my wonderful dance partner for the production in the beginning party scene.
David, Pete and Kurt had a lot of fun, and were very entertaining with their fencing through the course of the opera. Members of the Butler Ballet department, as choreographed by Michelle Jarvis, add a great deal to the productions.
Tybalt in stunned silence, Gregorio in stunned and bleeding silence, and Peterson the Peddler in stunned "watching the conductor" silence.
Mercutio and Romeo being watched as they play "I can sing louder than you can when I am facing the audience and you aren't"
"Bring out your dead .... Bring out your ..... oops. I'm sorry that is in a different movie.
But notice anyway, that Tybalt still isn't dead ..... yet!
Okay ..... now he's dead!
