“Briiinnnggg!!!!” Sixth period was over and seventh still remained. Trunks and Goten walked down the halls of Orange Star High to get to their next classes. “Catch ‘ya after seventh!” called Goten ad he turned the corner. “Okay! Later!” shouted Trunks. They were high-schoolers now; Trunks was sixteen and Goten, fifteen. “Uuhhh...Biology!” moaned Trunks. He entered the class room and took his seat at the last desk in his row. He was late for class, and he knew he’d be busted. “Hmmm... Mr. Hiyta isn’t here yet. Guess I’m safe!” he thought to himself. Then the teacher entered the room. “Sorry I’m late. I was just checking on the new student.” explained Mr. H. The class broke out into murmurs. “Quiet down people! Take out your books and...”. He paused as a quiet knock came from the door. “Ahh! Here she is now!” he said and opened the door to reveal a girl standing outside. She had straight, shoulder length hair, which was a golden-brownish color, and dark green eyes. “Welcome Averi to Biology 101. We hope you enjoy this class and all of Orange Star High.” said Mr. H. cheerfully. “Would you please take that empty desk in the back of the room? I know it’s inconvenient to have no other free desks, but we have a large class.” The new girl smiled, nodded, and walked to the empty seat, which was right next to Trunks. He watched her as she sat down, then realizing where he was, quickly looked to the front of the room. Averi looked at the guy with purple hair who was sitting next to her and wondered why he seemed so giddy. “Maybe it’s because I’m new.” she thought. The class worked hard for the rest of the period, learning how to dissect a frog (yeah, pretty boring, not to mention gross). “Briiinnnggg!!!!!” Seventh period was over and the students left Biology 101 in a stampede. Trunks was at home, doing his school work and thinking about the events of the day. “Beep-beep-beep! Beep-beep-beep!” his telephone rang. “Hey man. What’s up?” It was Goten. “I thought you were coming over to my place after school. What happened?” “Well...it’s a long story.” Trunks started, and he began to tell what had happened...
“*Yawn!* Man, am I beat!” Trunks said to himself. “Too bad Goten had a dentist appointment
and couldn’t hang with me. Mrs. Chi-Chi babies him too much.” As he rounded the corner of the
school building, he heard voices. “Hey! Why don’t ya watch where you’re goin’, ya little runt!”
“I...I’m sorry!” It was the new girl, Averi, and some guys from another grade. “You’re that new
kid, aren’t `cha? Well, answer me!” one of the boys yelled. “You are going to answer Roni,
aren’t you?” another one demanded. Trunks ducked behind the corner of the building and
watched the scene. “I... uh, I...I...”, Averi stammered. “I think we need to teach you to be more
respectful to your older classmen.” Roni said, as he rolled up his sleeves. He approached Averi
and shoved her, sending papers flying and her and her books to the ground. Trunks could take
no more. Sure his father could be rude sometimes, but one thing he had taught Trunks was to
never hurt a lady. ‘Hey! Leave her alone!” he yelled as he came out from hiding. “Oh, look
guys! It’s the freak, Mr. Under-pants!” mocked Roni, causing his gang to crack up in laughter.
“That’s not my name, you dam---!” he spat.
"Hey hey! Watch your language...there's a lady in our prescence."
Trunks felt his anger rising and he growled at the bully. He took off his jacket and pushed his sleeves up. Then he turned and smirked at the gang.
“So you think you’re pretty tough,
huh? Well, let’s see just how tough you really are!” screamed Roni as he charged at Trunks.
Roni threw a nasty right hook, but naturally Trunks dodged it. “Why you little!” yelled Roni. He
came at Trunks again. This time he buried his fist deep into the bully’s stomach.
“Gag..uhh...nunhhh...” he moaned. With the sight of their leader hurt, the rest of Roni’s gang
struck out. Averi in the mean while, had crawled behind a nearby bush. She watched the battle in
amazement. “That’s all you guys got?” smirked Trunks. “1...2...3!!!” he shouted as he took each
guy out with a single kick or punch. He looked around, somewhat pleased with what he’d done,
but disappointed that it hadn’t been more of a challenge. “I...I...” stammered Averi as she
peered out form behind the bush. “You okay?” asked Trunks and he put out a hand to help the
girl to her feet. “Those jerks...” he muttered to himself. “Here’s your books and stuff.” he said
as he handed them back to their owner. “Th...thank you.” said Averi, still shaken by what had
just taken place. “No prob.” replied Trunks, and he turned to leave. “Wait! What’s your name?”
called Averi. “Trunks.” he called back and then disappeared around the corner.
“So that’s what happened?” asked Goten.
“Yeah. Pretty wild huh?”
“So you took out four guys twice your size for someone you don’t even know? Cool, but why’d
ya do it?”
“I don’t really know. I saw her being pushed around by some guys and it just hit me wrong. I had
to do something.” said Trunks quietly.
“Well, I gotta go. Mom wants me asleep by 10:30. Catch ya later, bro.” said Goten. “Okay.
Later” said Trunks. He hung up the receiver, rolled over on his bed, switched off the light and
went to sleep.
