WHAT IS A PBEM ?

PBEM stands for play by email. But what does that really mean? Its much like Role-playing and combines many of the standard ideas. Such as acting, storytelling and writing.

This PBEM is free style. We use this term to describe a style of Role-playing that has no pre-made structure such as dice, maps, or character sheets. Free style play stresses story line and writing, rather than rules and dice.

A standard Role-playing Game Master is the person that sets up the adventures. He [Game Master] is a storyteller, director, actor, writer, and rule arbitrator. Again, free form is a little different than the classic Role-playing game. The Game Master will only guide the game back on course if conflicts begin to arise in the game. This doesn't mean battle between foes, but rather unwanted destruction of other peoples story lines, cheatings, unethical behavior, and/or major un-reality's relating to the world Etos Enum. That doesn't mean we don't encourage creativisim, but rather wouldn't like people jumping off of 60 foot cliffs while firing their bazooka onto a dime sized target.

For the most part the game is based off of the players. You write the story, you interact with the world through your character and make things happen. For the most part, this is what you, the player, is responsible for. Click here for a better understanding of the player's responsiblities.

I remind you this PBeM is free form. It is based off of more story than any other aspect. No turns or moves are needed. This is not AD & D...

The player uses their character's thoughts, feelings and actions to help move the story along.

Together, game master and players create a story that is exciting and fun to all involved. Grand heroics, personal tragedy, humorous romps, and great battle scenes are all part of the Role-playing experience.
