5). Entrusts the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine
Science as the 4th center for coral reef
monitoring activities
in eastern of Indonesia covering North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi
and East Kalimantan
6). Performs the monitoring studies on coral
reef condition and enviromental damage regarding
the gold mining activities
of PT. Newmont Minahasa Raya
7). Carries out some studies on oceanographic
characteristic of Likupang waters
( with PT. Aurora )
8). Establishes Talengen ( the distric of Sangihe
Talaud ) and Likupang
( the distric of Minahasa
) as reformed villages for fisheries. (Discussions with the regional
goverment of Sangihe
Talaud and Minahasa)
9). Establihes international collaboration with
the University of Ryukyu and Tokyo University
of Fisheries, Japan;
Arhus University, Denmark; ( other collaborations are being discussed
with the British Council
led by the University of Newcastle, the University of Montpellier II,
France and Nagasaki
University, Japan ), the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science
UNSRAT is also initiating
a collaboration with Mindanao State University in Tawi-tawi,
Philippines
