SailorMoon: Times Not Known #3 By Andrew M. Hujsak The usual disclaimers apply. Any comments, good, bad or indifferent, please direct to me at: andyhme@mix-net.net Frustration. Mizuno Ami was feeling quite frustrated. So many things just didn't seem to want to work out. Her plans to study for her Medical Doctorate had been put on hold and pushed back so many times. It just seemed that when things were starting to look up, the forces of the Dark Kingdom would put on a new offensive, and her obligations to the Sailor Senshi would have to take precedence over everything else. She had pushed herself to study on her own, to learn all that she could outside of actually attending the necessary classes and doing the required internship, but that wouldn't get her that piece of paper that would allow her to follow in her Mother's footsteps. Her Mother had helped all she could, bringing home medical texts and updates on procedures, but it wasn't enough. All she could do was just continue to hope that some day, some day, she would get the opportunity to complete her studies. In the meantime, she just gritted her teeth and tried not to scream. But that wasn't all that Ami was frustrated over. It went back to when the Dark Kingdom had reached their greatest expansion, when her arm had been broken after being slammed into a wall from a particulary cunning youma. That incident had essentially put her out of the fight, physically anyway, but at least her mind still worked fine, and she was able to help plan strategies. The big turn around was shortly after that, when they got Rei-chan to accept her role as Sailor Mars, bringing their offense up several levels. Her arm whole once more, she sought to contribute to the team once again on a more active level, but made the discovery that that healing injury was sensitive to cold, and ached tremedously when she tried to use her Shabon Spray. So once again, she was relegated to the role of fifth wheel. It made her feel as about as useful as a lump on a log. About the only good thing happening lately was that the Dark Kingdom was losing ground, giving her a chance to let her arm heal completely. The dull throb of pain was lessening as time went on, and soon, hopefully, she could rejoin the fight and bring their strength back to peak. Then, feeling quite ashamed of herself, she knew that what she was expierencing was really quite trivial, merely the wanting of self gratification. Minako-chan had gone through such greif, still feeling the pain of her loss. She needed the support of all of her friends just to keep from losing it completely. Ami's own troubles were nothing compared to that. Sighing deeply, Mizuno Ami went into the study and took down another medical text from the shelves lining the walls, sat at the desk and started to delve into the complexities of the goal she wanted to reach. Some day, some day... The end
