willingly ; to render every man his owne care-
fully, and to extort from no man forcibly : It
further syeth us, to love our Prince loyally,
to keepe his Lawes cheerefully ; to defend our
Country valiantly, and to provide for our
particular families indulgently : Befides, the
rigour of the Law was devifed to no other
end, but to curbe, and bridle thofe refractory &
rebellious fpirits, who elfe would live without
all regularity or reafon ; for thefe three things
are chiefly to be acknowledged, and obeyed:
with all one God, one King ; one Law : and
whofoever breaketh one of them, tranfgreffeth
in all : for God hath the fole & absolute power
in himfelfe, who faith obey the King : He hath
alfo a Vice-royall Regency from his Creator,
(whofe fubftitute he is) and He saith obey the
Law; & therefore, thefe minifters under him,
to whom power is given to execute the law,
have their authority from above ; as not to be
murmured at, or any way oppofed. Now, of
two famous Pirats I am to frame my dif-
courfe,
Pufer, and Clinton ; whose irregular &
illegall lives, as they were notorioufly fa-
mous, to their deaths and ends were as re-
markably infamous.
