Spanish Heroes of the Siege of Castle Morro


1. Juan Acensio
He was the son of Juan Perez el Bueno and a citizen of the city San Juan. He acted very bravely as a soldier during the siege of Castle Morro. Some of the things he did:

2. Juan Perez el Bueno
He was a citizen of San Juan and father of Juan Acensio. El Bueno was part of the forces that attacked the two Dutch vessels which guarded the mouth of the river Bayamon. Afterwards he was put in command of a part of the force that attacked and captured the island Cañuelo on 15 and 16 October.
When 7 Dutch vessels were sent to recapture the island he commanded part of the force that managed to repell the attack. He personally killed several Dutchmen and was wounded in this battle. Afterwards he was very active in the transportation of supplies from Porto Rico to Castle Morro.
