The party was held in a huge mansion on a hillside. The five girls arrived at the party and were excited to see lots of handsome men. "Look at all the blonde men!" exclaimed Minako. "Look at all the tall men!" exclaimed Mako. Usagi though, was very nervous because everyone was speaking English. Rei said that love had no boundaries. Ami said that it would be a good chance for Usagi to practice her English, but Usagi said she didn't know enough English to make a chance out of it!

Edwards and two young men, Ned and George, greeted Mamoru in English. Then they introduced themselves to the girls in Japanese. "You speak Japanese?" Ned and George said they went to Japanese universities. "Usagi will be very relieved," commented Rei. "Oh? Where did Usagi go?" asked Mamoru. Minako said she'd probably gone to find the washroom.

Usagi was hiding around a corner and frantically flipping through her English phrasebook. She looked up the phrase "nice to meet you"

"N...nisu.. to.. meeto.. meeto..."

Usagi looked over and saw everyone else chatting. She sighed at how well the other girls were managing (she was too far away to hear that they were all speaking in Japanese). "I'll just have some juice," thought Usagi as she picked up a wine glass...

Edwards talked to Ami and explained about his parties. He wanted to bring together the brightest and most dedicated young people to exchange ideas and encourage them to work towards a brighter future. Minako, Mako and Rei sighed that Ami's conversation was way above their level. Then the girls spotted Usagi...

George was trying to persuade Mamoru that he should specialize in theoretical physics. Usagi staggered up to them. "Relative phase pudding?" laughed Usagi loudly, "Sure... you take eggs, milk and sugar and mix it all together..." Usagi was talking nonsense. She knocked Mamoru over and started laughing some more. "What a charming young lady you are," exclaimed Ned, taking Usagi by the hand. Edwards suggested that Mamoru take Usagi outside for some fresh air.
"Why did you drink alcohol, Usagi?" scolded the girls. "I didn't," protested Usagi, "I just had some juice..." Usagi slumped over the balcony railing. But she soon recovered.

Haruka and Michiru were also at the party. Edwards had invited them to perform some classical music. Michiru played the violin and Haruka, the piano. After their piece, they greeted Mamoru and the girls. A waltz began to play and Michiru asked Mamoru if he would dance with her. "No way!" Usagi blocked her path, "Mamo-chan is with me!"
"Well then, why don't you dance with me, Miss Dumpling-hair?" asked Haruka. "Yes, I'd be happy to," beamed Usagi!

The girls were amazed to see Usagi dancing the waltz so beautifully. Mako said Haruka was so good at leading that it made Usagi look good. Then the four girls started arguing over who got to dance with Haruka next! Mako said they should decide by arm-wrestling (Minako and Rei looked scared!). Minako insisted that they had to decide by junken (rock, paper, scissors). Minako, Mako and Rei started playing junken, but every time they would argue that the winner had cheated! Mamoru and Michiru were dancing together. Michiru commented that Edwards liked to help young people. Mamoru said that Edwards had become rich when he was young by sacrificing many other people. Edwards thought money was all he needed to create a bright future. But when he became older he realized he had no friends or family and no one to share his future with. "Still," said Michiru, "in order to obtain the future, you have to sacrifice many things." Mamoru said that even if you do obtain the future in that way, it doesn't mean anything when you have no one to pass it on to. Mamoru said that people can't live alone. Michiru frowned, then covered up her concern with a smile.

Meanwhile, Eudial entered the manor... continue...
