Castle in the Sky Sailor Moon
Viewer Discretion Notice for Illustrated Summaries

This web site contains illustrated summaries of some of the original Japanese episodes of the cartoon program Sailor Moon. This web site is intended for young adults and adults. Unlike the Sailor Moon TV episodes that aired in the U.S.A. and other English-speaking countries the summaries on this web page contain no censorship. A major purpose of this web site is to present the differences between the Japanese and English versions of Sailor Moon. In Japan Sailor Moon was intended to be watched by young children however cultural practices vary between and within different countries. In my opinion Sailor Moon is a great story. However only you can be the judge of what you are comfortable with. Some episodes contain material which you might find uncomfortable if you are reading these summaries to a younger child. Many people would have no problems with it. To view or not is up to you.

Please note that episode descriptions may involve depictions of fighting, mature themes, use of alcohol, and mild cartoon nudity.

Some specific cases...

Episode 90 - This and other episodes refer to the "messiah". "Messiah" is the actual word used in the original Japanese dialouge (it sounds like "meshiya" when pronounced in Japanese). Most people in Japan practice the Shinto religion, so the terms "Messiah" and "Sacred Cup" (or Holy Grail) do not have any special meaning in Japanese the way they do in Christian culture.

Episode 90 - This episode is fairly violent.

Episode 104 - A little boy pulls his pants down and exposes himself to Rini. No nudity is shown. The boy gets in trouble from his mother.

Episode 106 - This and other episodes suggest that there is an intimate relationship between two girls. A comment at the end of episode 106 (which is open to interpretation), suggests there could be a physical aspect to this relationship.

Episode 110 - Two women hold hands in a way that could be construed as intimate.

Episode 110 - Much violence.

Episode 115 - A female character is shown from the back, nude. The context is not sexual.

Episode 115 - The death of a pet animal is discussed.

The above list is not complete or exclusive. Parental previewing of each episode is recommended if you are concerned.
