When Kyousuke came into their lives, Hikaru never imagined that there was anything but friendship between Modoka and him. There was several occations where she suspected of something or even broke into tears, but with a little reassurance from Kyousuke that the truth Hikaru saw was only her imagination, her frown and tears were wiped away. A split second later would find Kyousuke in a very strong embrace habitually forced upon him by Hikaru. "There is no way he could like Madoka more than me," Hikaru once said.
book-bag attack
Madoka,
not wanting to hurt Hikaru, engaged in a painful game of denial with Kyousuke.
In a flashback, Madoka recalled when she was playing with Hikaru as a child.
She had found a shamrock, and Hikaru wanted it too after seeing it. When
Madoka ran away from Hikaru, Hikaru chased after her, fell down and cried.
Madoka looked at the shamrock, and then decided to give it to Hikaru. More
than once did Madoka gave away Kyousuke in this fashion. She ignored him,
lied to him about having to help out at the pub she was working at, put
the telephone out in the front yard of her house when she got tired of
listening to Kyousuke's desperate rings. But in the end, she always gave
up on the charade and acknowledged Kyousuke again. Even when she shared
a tender moment with him,.she would quickly shrug away when Hikaru walked
in. So would Kyousuke, for the same reason. Could things stay like this
for long?
