11/1 Well, another November has arrived, and I thought I'd take half a second to update before class. All is well... more of the same. Still doing everything I always do: working at C&E, going to class, singing a lot, working at church, teaching voice, chillin like a villain. We got the news at work yesterday that our current manager, Brandy, is going to be the manager at the new store in the Galleria. So that means that hopefully Stefani will get promoted, but it will take a few weeks for that to happen, with the formality of applications and interviews and whatnot. Brandy's gone by the end of November though. In other news, my last concert with the UNT ACappella Choir will be Tuesday night. Bittersweet. It's a good choir, and in a lot of ways, I'll miss it. Hmmm. Right now I have to go to class... but I'll update more this afternoon. I have the day off!
OK, so it's later on the same day, and I'm finally finishing up packing some stuff to bring home for the weekend. This weekend I am going to the Vocal Jazz Festival at CCCC tonight. That will feature Jazz SIngers II (with Karla Chisholm and Dwayne Pedigo) and CCCC Expressions (with Justin Williams). I'm going with Susan and possibly Hil from JS1. Then tomorrow I work, we have a Vera Bradley event, and after that I'm going to go see Karla and Susan perform at a coffeeshop in Allen. Sunday morning I'm directing the NHC at the early service, and then it's the beginning of a College Sunday School class at 9:30, courtesy of Dean. At late service, my kiddos are singing the anthem. And then of course the regular afternoon Sunday schedule. On the recent history... I wanted to write down for posterity the funnest thing I did all week, which was go to a drum circle with Nick. (Nick is a boy who hangs out at the coffeeshop from time to time) Well we went to a drum circle at Across the Street Bar on Wednesday night. It was cool, very bohemian. I was overdressed for sure, wearing a skirt and heels, but I did drum a little bit in the circle. Mostly, it was a people-watching experience for me. Lots of folks in their hippie/bohemian wear, complete with feathers in their hair and little stick-on jewels on their foreheads. heh. Hopefully I'll go again sometime. But anyway... right now I'm going to get gone to Plano, and I'll update again another time.
11/11 Well, I'm writing from Denton in between classes. I thought I'd make sure everyone knows that I updated my wish list. Not that there are any upcoimng events for which that might be useful. Anyway, life is pretty cool, all things considered. I feel like a real music educator these days. Last Thursday I kicked a lot of butt teaching the second grade class, teaching them quarter rest and rondo form. I did well enough that no one had any negative comments for me, and Mrs. O'Rear pulled me aside after to class to tell me that if I ever need a letter of recommendation, to give her a call. So, I felt like a success for that. And then yesterday at church I did more work with the youth choir and the kids choirs, kicking butt continuously. There is also the possibility that a position might open up somewhere in the church music ministry in the next few months. So, we'll see that happens there. Hm. That's about it for right now.
11/18 Twas the day before my birthday, and all thru the house.... I was trying to sort the mail and clean and vacuum and dust because my parents are coming back on Friday and I've been messing up the house for a good 3 months now without them. heh. Also on this week's agenda: time spent at Hell Week at Plano East, preparing for their big show. I can't actually go see the show, because my JS1 concert is the same Friday, and then Claire is making her Wylie Opry debut on Saturday. I'm a little bit sick right now, so sometime today I'm going to stop by the student health center and see if they can do anything for me. If not, I'll just call my regular doctor and do the Plano thing. Well, it's time for class now, so more later.
