5/1 Hey hey, it's May! Um, not a lot new today... just have some stuff to do. Conducting reports, a little theory homework, some algebra studying to get cracking on... and of course making sure my piano and voice stuff is in good shape for my finals in those two classes, which are tomorrow and Thursday respectively. The only other major things I have to do that I can think of is figure out exactly when and how I'm going to move out. I may be able to do it sort of, gradually, if I manage to get some things together and packed up before like, tomorrow night when I come home, and then again next weekend, and next Wednesday... I just don't know if that's the best use of my time at this point. I may prefer to just do it all in one day. But I have to figure out from the Assignments and Collections office what the rules are as far as when I'm required to be out by, or what the cost is to stay a day longer or whatever. I think the requirement is technically to be out by 24 hours after hour last exam, which makes me leave by noonish Friday... and I don't think I like that too well.... I think I might prefer to take Clint up on his offer of helping me do it all in one load with his truck.... which would have me leaving on Saturday... I don't know. I'll have to talk to A&C today I hope. I have some other random errands and stuff to do today... so, I may go ahead and get cracking on that, and sign off here. Later!
5/4 Happy Birthday Lance! Yes, that's right, today Lance is 22. So, Happy Birthday Darling! haha jk. OK... lots of news. First of all, school stuff. I'm about to go take my piano fianl now, which was supposed to be Wednesday, but because my teacher somehow overbooked himself, I got the chance to play Rock Paper Scissors with a girl in my class for the right to take it today. So, I won. Voice... well kids, my voice is not in too good of shape right now. Add to that the fact that the voice faculty are rumored to be being real tough this time around... and I decided to take an Incomplete in voice, meaning that I will be doing my jury when I return to school next fall, rather than this week in the midst of allergy season. That's the most major school news... the rest of my classes still have exams going on and stuff. In other news, the kids musical at church is SUNDAY! Hopefully, it will be pretty cute, if it all comes together. I think it will... I hope it will.... we shall see. And more other news, I quit my job at Romano's. Why? you may ask. Well... when I applied there, I basically said that weekends would be all I could do until school gets out, but after that they could schedule me all the time except Sundays. And they were OK with that little arrangement. Well, I've had to ask off a couple of times already because of the Good Friday service, and the for my Jazz Singers concert, and I was about to ask off again for a recording session with JS2 and for PESH Spring Show, plus I still had to tell them about my weeklong or more trips to West Virginia, California, and France. So... I basically just went in and said, you know what, I'm not as reliable right now as I want to be, so hows about I just reapply or something next August when life isn't quite as crazy. And they were totally understanding, no hard feelings or anything and said they really hoped they'd see me again. So, that was that. And, that's about all the updating I've got time for right now... piano calls me! Later on...
5/10 Hi everyone! Writing tonight from Plano, where I will be spending the nights for the rest of the summer. Yes, that's right, I'm done for the semester and I'm home for the summer, kids! As far as how things turned out for me academically this semester... I had my last two finals today... conducting and aural skilz. Aural Skilz went fairly well... the dictation was alright, about as good as I usually do. Same with the keyboarding example. Sightreading went really well, in fact, my teacher said I did the best of anyone in my class, and I got a 94. Hey hey! Conducting went pretty well too. I didn't mess up or anything, and I think I was pretty clear, but you never know how tough McCoy is going to be with stuff. He's given me A's both times before, but this being The Final, I don't know how much tougher he's going to be. We shall see. Tomorrow at school I'm going to check and see if my grades are posted in either Piano or German Diction. My other classes, I don't think there are any plans to post the grades for... so I'll just have to wait until I get them in the mail. We shall see. Oh... I do also know my algebra grade. I am ashamed. You'll see it posted on the Academic section of this page. [sigh] But that's all I know. So... I guess that's it. I'm going to finish this little entry off now and hand the computer off to Dad. So... bye!
5/13 Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers in the audience... I've had a good Mother's Day, and I hope you all have too. I (unintentionally) slept in a little today, since I set the times for the alarm to go off on my clock, but forgot the little detail of actually setting it to go off... you know, minor thing... and I woke up at about 9ish or a little after. I then headed off to church per usual and did the Sunday School thing, and the late service. Then we had our Mother's Day festivities. This year, Mom had already cooked in advance (yesterday they hosted a Dinner For Eight) so all we had to do was reheat the main stuff, and cook a little cornbread and some vegetables. It was High Quality. Ohhhhhhh there was a great great great Michael quote, but man, I don't know if I can put it on the site. Man, it was great. phew. [sigh] Anyway... so after dinner and all that, I sort of spearheaded the cleanup campaign, trying to be a good daughter on Mother's Day and all that. Eventually I headed over to Clint's and hung out for a bit... we also went to visit our friend (well, mostly his friend I guess) Carrie from the coffeeshop who is recovering from surgery. When we got to her house, she was out cold... finally getting some sleep, so we didn't disturb, but we did get the update from her Mom on how she's doing and all that, and left some flowers. Then... well I ended up spending most of the day at the Smiths... had dinner with them and all that, and capped off the day by whooping up on Clint in a rousing match of Rock N Roll Jeopardy and Name That Video on VH1. Don't believe whatever he says... I whooped up on him. That's pretty much my whole day right there... So, tomorrow no huge plans except trying to get this room back to a state of at least relative cleanliness. Oh, and tomorrow night, late, I'm hitting Bill's Records to pick up a new release or two. And that is all. So, now, I'm going to just sign off and head bedward. I'm mucho tired-o. Later!
5/24 Hello everybody! I write you today from Beckley, WV, where I am on vacation with mi familia. My Dad and I have been here since Monday, and will remain here until next Monday. The Cornett family reunion is this Saturday, which is the main reason for this vacation, I guess. Vacation has been good thus far... Chuck is coming in today also, so it's going to be super fun. But really, there's not a whole lot of news to report... so I'm going to go find something else to do. heh Bye!
