a summary of my activities in march 2001 write me!
3/1 Hi all! Writing late the night of 2/28 after a long day of school and church. To quickly recap, Wednesdays are real long and I discovered/realized today that the worst part of Wednesdays (and also Mondays, incidentally) is that I go 3 hours on my feet. That is, from noon until three o'clock I don't sit. At noon is Jazz Singers, for which we stand, on mic. At one is voice (Monday) or rehearsal with my accompanist (Wednesday) both of which are standing room only. And at two is choir practice, which is also a standing-only affair. It just gets real tiring. Today I had a German Diction quiz which went ok, and other than that, not a lot went on really. I went to church, giving Alan Anderson a ride on the way, which was less than completely fun because he doesn't really, you know, speak. So, eh. Then when I got to church I hadn't really eaten... I was too indecisive to get food on my way to church but it ended up working out really well, because I went into the church to use the restroom and came out about 2 minutes later once I decided that yeah, I was really hungry. And at that point the youth had just left for dinner, but Danielle was just pulling up... so I thought "hey! someone to go to dinner with me!" and Danielle and I did just that. Then I returned Clint's guitar to him (since I won't be in town to return it this weekend) and did the normal Wednesday night bit of Chancel choir. The only difference was that since this was Ash Wednesday there was a service... but we still got out of practice at about the normal time. Then I got to talk to Ann Marshall (kids choir head honcho) about my many ideas for It's Cool In The Furnace... and she basically told me to take it and run with it! How fun is that? I get to be in charge! Woo-hoo! So it's going to be a lot of work and a lot of fun... I'm looking forward to it. But, that's about all I'm going to say for tonight... Except of course my daily plug for my Upcoming Choir Concert!!! See below! And I'll see you there!
3/7 Home again home again, jiggity jog... as it were. Hello everyone! I've just returned from Houston (huzzah!) on ACap tour. It went pretty well... just the normal bit of getting sick of people after a bit. Which is actually kind of funny to me... why is it that I can spend a couple of weeks on the road in a charter bus singing with a group of 11-17 year olds or whatever NHC is, and not really have any huge problems with it, but three days on a bus with my "peers" and I wanna pull out my hair? hmmm. Not that it was bad, really. The people that I like are a lot of fun... it's just that there are a lot of people I really don't like as much in ACap. Divas. eh. whatever. It does sort of make me miss things like NHC tour... it's a lot more fun. =) And that it turn makes me wonder if I'm going to get to go this summer.... hmmm.... I suppose only time will tell. [shrug] L.A. could be fun... never been there. Been to Anaheim, not L.A. Ah but anyway, ACap tour is fun, promise. It just costs more... to have the fun. More sacrifices. Such as the three days of class I had to miss... Which of course sounds grrrreat initially, but then you get back and you're like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" So, actually, there's probably a number of other things I need to be doing, rather than updating this... so... bye
3/12 Hello hello.... a quick update. I'm writing at about 7pm, just before a concert here tonight by a guest choir, the New Zealand Youth Choir, who Dr. McCoy has been talking up all semester. Apparently they're amazing. So, we're paying the 8 bucks to go, as well as getting to use it as one of our recital credits and a conducting report. Huzzah! Not a lot of news today, really... the only thing I can think of is that Stephanie from the Eagle Ambassador program called and set up an interview with me for the week following Spring Break... I don't know if there's any filtering before the interview, but hey, if there is, I made it this far! haha And truly, that's about all I have to report... Sooooo.... I'm going to touch up my makeup and debate changing my clothes. I tried something new today... I don't usually mix brown and black... it just seems wrong... but today I wore a black shirt and brown pants... so, everyone seems to think it looks fine, but everytime I look in a mirror, I kind of go "heyyy... that's not right...." heh heh.... ah well. That's all for now!
3/17 Happy St. Patrick's Day, all.... writing tonight from Plano on Spring Break... I just got back from the Williams HS Total Harmony show, which was not at all bad. The program gets a little stronger each time I see it, which is encouraging certainly. Not a lot is up today, or has been, I suppose... except of course the NCAA Men's B-Ball tourney... UK has made the Sweet 16, baby! I'm so into the tournament this year.... I'm all over it. But really, that's about as much news as I've got, so I think I'm going to run along and [gasp] practice my scales! AAAAAA! Later!
3/24 Hi everybody! A quick entry for a bunch of news... writing this time with curlers in my hair as I prepare for Daddy's choir concert tonight... the Fauré and Duruflé Requiems. But, the major news of the week is three items I think. In chronological order... I GOT A NEW CAR! I am the proud driver (not owner, mind you, haha) of a brand new 2001 Saturn SL... it's wildcat blue, standard, with CD and cassette... and its name is Tayshaun. It is an addition to my life as of Thursday! Yea!!!! Piece of news two... I GOT A NEW JOB! I have been hired at Romano's Macaroni Grill here in Plano as of yesterday, as a hostess/pantry wench/singer. Yea!!! I'm in the process of being trained, so more on that will follow. And the third piece of news is I WENT TO PANTERA AND I SURVIVED! Woo-hoo!!!! That was last night. It was pretty much as violent as I expected, maybe a bit less... or maybe I just got my confidence up during the first 3 bands, so Pantera's set didn't phase me too much... either way, I made it through, and I even stayed in the pit the whole time! Who knew? Well... my hair is curly now, so maybe I'll update a bit more later on... bye bye!
3/29 Hello everybody! Taking a little study break. I have an algebra test tomorrow, so I've been going through the last couple of chapters, making sure I've got the concepts down and all that. It's been a super-ultra busy week... I've been commuting mostly every night this week for training at Romano's. I'm finally finished, as of yesterday. I passed the menu test and the ticket-writing test and all that. I start actually working on Friday... at 5! Brookie will also be working that shift with me. How fun is that? So I work this Friday at five, and Saturday at three. Other than that.... there's not a whole lot going on really. School is school is school. Ooh, I had my interview with the Eagle Ambassador people. I think I did really well. They'll call me back next week to let me know if they'd like to see me again for the second round of interviews. So, we'll see. I felt pretty good about it though. That's about it though, really. Hmmm... so... the moral of this story is I'm in Plano on the weekends now, so visit me at work in the evenings, and hang out with me during the day! OK? OK! That's all!
