6/4 Well, I'm home now from the New Horizon tour to Kentucky and Tennessee. I thought the trip really went very well... perhap even the best overall tour that I have participated in with the group - that's out of 5, I think... North/South Dakota in 95, Florida in 97, South Texas in 98, NY/DC in 99, and this one... There weren't any major troublemakers or attitude problems, so I think everyone had a pretty good time. I enjoyed getting to know a bunch of the NHC'ers better than I had before... good bonding with a bunch of them. Ah, but now I must assimilate to the adult world... including the Chancel Choir. I used to look forward to this, at least sort of. But I don't really care for Chancel Choir thus far... they're a bit old for me. Things just feel a bit odd at church. The college class is generally non-existant, I'm not a youth, and I'm so not a "Single". So, whatever. Who knows what I'll do... we shall see. Maybe I should just look into teaching a children's class or something. Hmmmm... As for the rest of mi vida... well, there's not too much going on at this moment, since I just got home. But the Starbucks people have requested to interview me this week, and hopefully the temp agency will get with me before long too... I think that's pretty much all the news I've got right now, so I shall sign off...
6/5 So I talked to Teresa at Starbucks, and she's all "blah blah we've hired all the seasonal people we need at this store, but I know there are openings in The Colony, Lewisville, Coppell, etc..." Technically I'm supposed to talk to her again today to "explore my options" haha... I'll still talk to her, but here's the really good news: I got a call from Heather at the temp agency (yea!) and I'm employed, bay-bay! This particular assignment is only through June, but hey, at $11/hr, I'm not complaining. This one is in PB6 at Alcatel, doing just random clerical whatnot. I start today at 1:00! haha... Anyway, that's it from here... So we'll see what I want to do about that potential second job... who knows. But that's it from here, so bye!
6/6 Well today I got started on the work that will be my daily task (as opposed to yesterday's filing). I think I have Thomas's old job... basically, does everyone remember in Rumpelstiltskin how there was a room FULL of straw that someone had to turn to gold? Ok, well I got a room FULL of expense account reports that I have to alphabetize and check off of a list and hand off to someone else... and everyday, when I come back to work, regardless of how much I got done the day before, my little room will be full again! haha... But that's about it for today... Oh one fun thing today was that I saw Clint's mom at lunch and ate with her.. =) But that's it... I think I'm going to watch Buffy now and then go to bed. =)
6/8 Well, my job turns out to be not that bad, as far as workload.... the first few days I was still catching up with how backlogged they were.... but today I got my alphebetizing/checking off thing done at about 10:30 or 11 and then I went back to filing the stuff on "sandra's desk" which is what I did the first day. After lunch, they had already stacked up my work for tomorrow, so I finished that up at about 3:30 or 4 and finished filing sandra's desk.... so, tomorrow, I think I shall be quite bored. haha. ah well. Tonight is the MTV Movie Awards, so I shall be venturing over to Sara's in an hour or so... let's see.... oh, I applied for my second job today... at LERNER!!!!! can we say "employee discount"? I thought we could. But, it turns out that what they really need is people for evenings and weekends, if you can imagine anything more perfect... so hopefully I'll be getting a call about that in the near future. But that's about it from here I think.... so... bye!
6/12 Well, life continues on as only life can... not much of anything particularly new or exciting going on... just working. Just started my second week at Alcatel and managed to log 8.75 hours of work today via my 15 minute lunch. In other words, I had no cash on hand at lunch so I had a Diet Pepsi. heh heh heh. But hey, it's all about the money, is it not? =) Let's see.... NHC had the home concert last night, which went well... Saturday was Mo's mom's wedding, which ended up being an all day affair: I left at noon, got there at 1, the wedding was at 2, reception at the church until 3:30 or so, then a gathering at Mo's house through the end of regulation time of the Stars game.... that's pretty much all the news from me right now, and I don't have time to write anymore anyway, due to Mom's dissatisfaction with my time online. =) bye!
6/16 [singing to self] "Just got paid, Friday night... party hoppin', feelin' right...." Well, maybe not party hoppin'... more like mowing the lawn and then celebrating Chuck's birthday.... there has been mention of Family Bowling Night. heh heh heh. But life is good overall... money is goooooooood. I put 60% straight into savings (the computer fund: hopefully I can get a brand spanking new computer in about 7 weeks) and kept 10% in cash. 30% will go to checking... to be divided between my tithe and my credit card bill. Speaking of my credit card bill... I bought tickets to see Britney! hahaha... I figure if I have to miss the Hottest Pop Show Of The Summer (*N Sync, duh), why not go to the Second Hottest Pop Show Of The Summer? heh heh. Hopefully, Andrea Chapman shall join me. Other than that, there's not all that much news to report, and I'm supposedly helping mow the lawn right now... ha. So I should get on out of here...
6/18 Happy Daddies Day to all the daddies in our studio audience... I think today we had a successful celebration in the Worley family, which consisted of a family bike ride (for Dad-o, Mom-o, Uncle Chuck, Ri and The Boyz) to Outback. Wayne and I drove in separate cars. I think all went well and Dad enjoyed the day. It was just a nice family day, and Dad had multiple opportunities to get touched and cry, which is after all, what it's all about. I did my Galilee Man solo at both services. Interesting thing I noticed... I didn't get applause after my song at either service, which is fine because this is church after all, and it's not about the applause, although I do think that this may have been the first time that I sang a solo at this church and didn't get applause. But I did notice that I got many more personal compliments than usual. So I wonder if people felt bad for me or something. It just struck me as interesting. hm. Let's see what other news I have to report... Uhhhh... not much really. I watched Girl Interrupted with Sara last night. It was decent but it bothered me how much it strayed from the book. So I'm now debating whether I want to go ahead and see The Virgin Suicides, or if I want to finish the book first. hmmmmm.... I don't know. First I have to finish The Great Divorce, and then I'll decide about The Virgin Suicides. Tomorrow starts my third week of Alcatel Bliss. I'm thinking.... other than that, I really can't think of anything else major going on. So for now I'm going to sign off... much love to all
6/22 So, today they sort of messed around with my job responsibilities, and instead of being a filing and alphabetizing wench, I'm now a filing and mailroom wench. It's ok though... Life is basically good except I feel a little out of the loop sometimes... I don't really get to see my friends much. So, if you're my friend (and I bet you are!) call me!!!! Let's see.... yeaterday Chuck closed on his new condo, so this weekend we're moving him in. Mom and Dad were supposed to go out of town, but they nixed it in honor of the move. Let's see.... the CD Catalog section of the site is almost done... all the CD's are listed, and all of them have links to song lists except for about 20 of them... but that's pretty much it from here, I guess.... bye now
6/27 Well, my job keeps getting more and more interesting... today was "fun" because I was sort of in charge of the mailroom today, and this woman that we trained on mailroom duties yesterday is sort of getting it, but she's really slow... practical upswing is that I logged 9.25 hours yesterday and 8.75 today. Tomorrow it's just me and her on mailroom, so I think I'm looking at a healthy 16 hour day, kids. haha... I went out to CD Warehouse tonight to pick up some handy dandy used CD's and ended up getting the live Counting Crows double disk set, Patty Griffin "Living With Ghosts" and Rush "Moving Pictures". All of the above were at good prices, and I was quite pleased. Tomorrow is Sara's big moving day, and hopefully I'll be able to help her out after work, depending on how much overtime I end up working. hm. Then Chancel Choir, whoopee. Thursday night is Bobby's band at The Door in Deep Ellum, which should be quite lovely. It will be a late night though.... I may have to figure out a way to nap. hm. Other than that.... let's see... I finished The Virgin Suicides which is a very good book, very thought provoking. I have a little more faith in that movie, so I think I may like it, even after reading the book, mainly because I have faith in Sofia Coppola's direction. So, that makes 3 completed books so far this summer (Girl Interrupted, The Great Diviorce, and The Virgin Suicides). I think I may devote the rest of my summer reading to finishing or just reading books that I supposedly read in high school. THe Scarlet Letter for instance.... I've read all but the last 2 or 3 chapters, I think. Lord of the Flies is another one I should read. Well.... I think I'll get off to bed here pretty soon...
FUTURE PLANS
6/29 Bobby Johnson's band (I don't know their name) playing at The Door
