7/1 Well, welcome to July everyone... after this month is through... well actually, more like after August, because I started this page when I got to Indiana in late August 1999.... but soon, anyway, there will be an entire year of my life logged on this site! Isn't this fun? And you know what that means, don't you? THAT means that soon you'll be able to answer that ever-burning question "What was Terri Worley doing on this day one year ago?" Yes, my friends, that question shall soon be easily answered. haha.... BUT today, July first 2000, I'm going to a wedding. And that more or less covers my activities for the day... When I get home after the wedding, I'll watch one or both of the videos I rented last night (The Usual Suspects and Swingers) both of which I have not previously seen, and both of which were recommended to me. Hi Ethan. Also new and interesting in my life today is the addition of one more section to this site.... Yes, the lyrics of the day. This should be fun... we'll see how long I can keep it up... haha... probably not too long, knowing me... =) But, feel free to look at today's lyrics here. But right at this very moment, I should get a shower and get ready for the wedding. bye now
7/2 Well I had a rather successful weekend in my opinion. The only bad part is that I haven't heard from Sara since Pat came into town on Thursday. I really should expect this... ah well. Had another late Saturday night drive 'n chat last night, although this time I was the driver... today I did the normal church thing and we had an afternoon at home with the family (well, the family minus Adam and Maria and plus Melissa) and then went to Prestonwood Baptist for a patriotic orchestra concert. It was an enjoyable day over all.... there's really not too much else to report.... they're keeping me on at Alcatel until further notice but that's about all the exciting news around here... so.... bye!
7/6 Well, I just thought I'd write a quick note here before I go to work... I don't have much of anything to report, actually... just thought I should check in here. I hope we're all enjoying the lyric of the day... I know I am. It's been a good week, with a quality holiday, and some good overtime pay for working a little late. I also just paid my very first credit card bill in full this week. That was a nice thing. Other than that, life pretty much just continues as it has been for the last month or so. I am planning a road trip to Denton tomorrow to check my mail... that's the only think out of the ordinary, I think. But, that's it from around here, and I need to get to work.... so, bye!
7/9 Well, as it turns out, the jig is up on my Alcatel job... When I went to pickup my check on Friday at Adecco, Heather informed me that my month long assignment which had become a five-week assignment was just that.... a five week assignment. So, ah well. My plan is to go to Adecco first thing Monday morning, and hopefully, they'll have something I can do right away. If not, I'll be calling the lovely people at OxyChem who offered me a spot in (shock, dismay) Accounts Payable... as a filing wench, I assume.... for $10/hr. Hopefully that's still around. If not, and if I totally strike out... well, we shall see. I guess I'll be helping with Music Splash Week! haha... actually, that's another week away and I hope I have something by then. Let's see... yesterday I did my mail run to Denton and OH MY GOSH you will not believe what I got in the mail! My mailbox was very very full, and Mom took about half and I did too, and we were sorting through the mail on a counter in the post office and Mom goes "here's something from the *NSync Fan Club..." and I was like, whatever Mom, don't make fun of me. But no really... I got a card inviting me to join the Fan Club, two form letters postmarked May 13th (I last checked my mail May 12th) and then, the kicker... one personal letter, hand signed from Geri Karr, the Fan Club Manager... as it turns out, she's a music teacher as is her husband. Her husband is actually a co-founder of the BC Vocal Jazz Fest at Carson Graham HS in Vancouver. She's friends with [drumroll please] Kirby Shaw!!!!!! AND she wants me to send her a resume, so that in the event that they should ever hire staff for the Justin Timberlake Foundation, they'll have me on file! How fun is that? So anyway... I guess that's pretty much all the news from around here... OH WAIT! Hello? Where is my mind? Today is my Daddy's Birthday! (Also Sam Swanson's birthday, but that's beside the point) Happy Birthday, Daddy! Just for you, "Ugly Girl" is the song of the day... I know you love it, and I had to honor your birthday on the site somehow! So, there you have it! Love you! OK.... that's it now... bye
7/11 Hello hello... writing tonight from the "sunroom" where I am attempting to watch an online *NSync Fan Conference that was conducted a week or two ago... watching it via Real Player which complains of Net Congestion about every 2 minutes (of a 45 minute conference) and takes about 5 minutes to regain consciousness... heh heh heh... So, we shall see how long it takes me to bail on this... No luck on the job front thus far, although I did go to Oxy today and sign up with the temp agency onsite there. Yesterday I got to work a half day at Alcatel, playing babysitter to a guy who's involved in a lawsuit with Alcatel but is still employed by them... therefore, he's doing his job from a conference room just off the lobby but has no access to the Alcatel Campus proper, and someone has to sit with him 24/7 and make sure he doesn't try anything... heh heh. Man, that's just not cool to be him. It was a cush job for me though.... just kinda sitting in my chair, reading my book for a few hours. Whatever... In other news... oh wait. There is no other news...
7/13 Well, the last couple of days have given me the most funnest job ever. Yesterday and today I was a "secret shopper" for an apartment complex management company! So I got to go to 5 different complexes and play like I was looking for a two bedroom apartment for me and the roommate of my choice! Tempting as it was to play a role more unfamiliar to me (play like I'm planning to room with my husband or somesuch) I played like I was an Alcatel employee planning to live with my music teacher friend, Sara Clothier... imagine that! But it was still way fun. Especially when they asked me to go into more detail about what I do for Alcatel, in which case I went off on how Alcatel is "in the process of making a transition from a manual, paper-driven system to more of a web-based mindshare" (hahahahahahahahahaha) and so "what we're doing is training a few people, myself included, on the new system and then in the coming weeks, I'll be training the existing staff onsite to utilize the new program" (hahahahahahahahahahaha) So, I thought I was pretty smooth. I had fun. Also, today for a half day I returned to my freaky cop-job overseeing the delinquent programmer. haha Overall, today was tons o' fun. But, tonight I must get to bed. One may notice, however, that the song of the day for the 13th is very much a job-appropriate song. =) g'night!
7/16 Well kids... yesterday was quite the busy day... I spent the majority of the day running little errands for myself, buying things for next year (new sheets, a blender) and then made a quick appearance at a birthday thing for Justin Caldwell... then I made a visit to the Across The Street Bar to see Bobby and Greg and (who knew!?!?!) Jon Kennedy and some other kid I don't know play... I was really quite pleased with them. I'm fairly used to hearing bands of people my age that are just... well... not good. And they were actually quite good. So that was nice. Today was church in the morning as usual... sang with Chancel at the first service, dropped in on the senior high for sunday school and went to second service through the offertory. After that, it was a Day With Chuck. We went to his place for lunch, which was quite tasty and then did some random shopping with him and that sort of thing. I saw the best chair ever. I love it, love it, love it... it was kind of 1300 bucks. So I'm thinking it won't be joining my life anytime soon. But I did love that chair. Then Chuck and I had fun at College Night at the Container Store. 20% off baby! I got a poster frame for the Power Pack poster, an album frame for Sgt. Pepper, and overdoor CD racks. 4 of them. Capacity of around 300, I believe. We're in good shape for next year... Tomorrow begins Music Splash Week at church... I will be doing the voice room with Dave until Adecco gives me something to get paid for doing. And tomorrow afternoon I'm invading Chuck's place to watch NSync things on MTV. And that covers my plans for tomorrow. Lyrics of the Day are still keeping me busy... for now, I'm trying to see how long I can go without repeating an artist. Ignoring, of course, the Fleming and John repetition in honor of Dad's birthday. But that's pretty much all there is to say at this point. So... au revoir
7/18 Hello all. Not too much to report right now... I've been in Music Splash Week at church this week, which has been quite fun. Outside of that, not too much has been happening.... Tomorrow night is BRITNEY! WOO-HOO! That's pretty much all the news in my life.... at least all I really have time to put up at the moment.... so, more later, with any luck. bye
7/20 Well, Music Splash Week has been quite nice... Day one I floated, sticking mostly to the instrument petting zoo, and general chaos control... Tuesday and Wednesday I did crafts, and today I helped Mark out in piano. Not that there was much help to be done... but hey. Britney's concert last night was interesting... I can't decide if she was singing or not.... I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt... but she wasn't all that convincing... she'd be talking, all out of breath, and suddenly she's singing all smooth and sounding good. haha... I just wasn't so sure it was all live. Tonight I'm going to the Door to see Justin, Jordan and Jason as "Solstice" with Samantha and Candace from church. Should be fun, I think. Other than that, the only real news is the addition of a cel phone to my life... Feel free to call me at any time... 214-585-2910 =) But if I don't answer the phone, DEAL! I refuse to be one of these people that's ringing their head off in the midst of a movie theater, concert, church service, or other place that's quiet for a reason... haha... but that's it for now... So...... bye!
7/22 Well, today I'm feeling a little under the weather, and for that reason, I'm home, whilst Mom and Dad are at Grapevine Mills. Dad is auditioning for Dick Clark's show, "Your Big Break" in which non-famous people impersonate famous people via singing. So, Dad is singing "You Were Always On My Mind" a la Willie Nelson, of course. In the meantime, I'm cleaning house for the impending Sunday School party tonight. By the same token, I'm hoping to get a hold of someone that would like to do something social tonight so that I don't need to be here for said party... In other news, the Solstice performance the other night was absolutely incredible. I should have known I would be impressed. Of course, we all knew they were talented guys... but I guess I forgot over the past year... Justin's doing all the songwriting, and he's really got a gift. Tomorrow I'm going to try to remember to talk to Hilary about maybe getting the guys a gig at church... FUMC Youth has never really been exposed to a lot of high-quality Christian music... and this is definitely high-quality stuff. And of course, to see that it's coming from guys that aren't all that much older than them... I just think they'd really enjoy it. So, we shall see. The only other news I can think of is site news... I've added a few quotes to the quote page, mostly from Sara And Terri's Britney Spears Adventure. Also, the Lyrics of the Day live on, but I decided to not worry about the not reapeating an artist thing. I figure I'd rather let the daily selection reflect what's actually going on in my head rather than just try to see how many albums I have or something. =) So, that's why you'll notice the recent Indigo Girls kick with no end in sight... So... I guess that's it...
7/24 Well, let's see what's going on in my life... I just got back from doing attendance with Mom at church this morning... That was ok. I'm waiting on a call from Heather at Adecco, hopefully I'll get employed one of these days. That would be nice. So, today I don't really have to much to do... I elected not to join the youth group at Six Flags today, as I'm sitting by the phone waiting for a job. If I don't get a call for an afternoon job by one or so, I'm calling Sara, per her request, and we're doing something social. Other than that, there's really nothing going on today... Oh, one fun thing that happened was I got my cel phone fixed... we realized on Saturday that while I was able to make calls just fine, I couldn't receive calls unless you dialed a 1 first and got charged for long distance... So this morning I called customer service and all that and they changed my cel phone number.... So please ignore the entry from a few days ago that has a 214 number... my real working number is 972-740-1415... but anyway... that's all the news that is news
7/25 Hey, hey, hey! Well, my news today is what we might call a mixed blessing. The news is that I got another assignment at Alcatel... This one is apparently with accounts payable again... just because I know the contact name from my previous assignment. According to Heather, this is a data entry job... but that's what it was supposed to be last time, and I ended up filing and doing mailroom. So, who knows. But, it's 11 bucks and hour, which is every kind of good. The bad news is that it's a 3.5 week assignment... to which you might say, hey what's wrong with that? Well.... Worley Family Field Trip 2000.2 starts next Thursday... and I'll be at work. So, I just have to be sure that I make it up to West Virginia somehow someway before the end of the year. That's my goal. But, Chuck is happy, because this means I get to feed his cats when he's out of town during WFFT2000.2 =) So, that's it so far for today...
7/26 Writing quickly today from home while I'm on my lunch... not that there's much to report... today is my first day back at Alcatel and everyone has been quite nice to be. I'm a filing wench for now, but supposedly, come Monday, I'll have a PC and I'll start some data entry. score! Outside of work news... the only other news is site stuff... I'm sure we've all noticed the candy-coated face lift I have the front page. I think it looks fun. Other additions include (most notably) the new Links page... highly enjoyable I think. Also, I re-did my profile, but I've already received a complaint about it being too short (haha who knew?) so I'll be redoing that in the next week or two I think. But, that's about all I've got from here... So... back to work I go...
7/28 Well, things are basically good around here... work has been crazy busy... lots and lots to do. I've been doing a lot of longhand writing which is seriously starting to actually cause blisters on my hand from where I never did learn how to hold a pen right... oh well. Last night was the much anticipated *NSync concert special, which was of course phenomenal. I was so very impressed with them. Not too much new has really happened... Jan and Clay left this morning to head back home... they had been here since last Tuesday, although I'm not sure I had mentioned it... it was nice to see them. That's about all the news there is, I think. About to settle in for a comfy night at home on the couch. I'm still nursing a sore throat.... haven't really been quite up to par for about a week now... ugh. Oh well... hopefully this will pass soon. That's all I have for now though.... so.... bye =)
FUTURE PLANS
8/2 Solstice @ Trees @ 11pm
8/3-8/13 Worley Family Field Trip 2000.2! Destination: West Virginia!
