8/4 Hi everybody... writing tonight from home after a decent shift at work. Yes, that's right, work. I'm now appearing at Crabtree & Evelyn in the new Shops At Willow Bend. oooh ahhh. It's a pretty nice little store and I like my job a lot. I'm a pimp on the cash register, so much so that I was trained first and then declared by my manager (Dana) to be competant enough to train my fellow new hires. As a result, I was the first girl on the team to be rewarded with Crabtree Bucks... aka their little employee reward gift certificates. Cute, huh? I thought so. But, yeah... working is cool. Money is good. My feet hurt kind of a lot because I've worn heels for work both days so far and I guess I'm just not used to standing in my heels for so many hours at a time. [shrug] Whatever, I'll live. Anyway... that's about all the news that is news for now. Just shy of 3 weeks before I move into Jefferson Commons! Let the countdown begin!
8/6 Hello hello... writing on a late night... just got home from bowling with Sara tonight. I did relatively well (for me) during the first game, but the second game was all gutterballs for me, seemed like. Whatever. Anyway, life is pretty decent. I had lunch today with my lovely PESH friends.... some of them, anyway.4th lunch today was the lovely and talented Danielle. We had Quizno's and lovely conversation. Mmmm. And then 5th lunch I went with Johnny and Clint to Clint's house, where we watched Clint eat. Actually, I think Johnny had some peanut butter on potato bread, which Clint chowed down on two bags of Ramen Noodles. I merely finished my Diet Coke from Quizno's. Johnny, it seems, has the same US History teacher I had back during my junior year, when I was in the same class as Erin and Emily and I'm sure many other people... Fatih was in that class, come to think of it... and Kerry Schneidewind... and Jennie Trout... and many others I'm sure. ah them was the days. Conversation for the second half of my lunch break was much less than during the first half... but I guess that's just what you get for going to lunch with boys. Hm. So, after that lovely adventure I stopped by the coffeeshop, and by staying there just over an hour, I was still there when all my slacker coffeeshop buddies got out of school at East, since it seems that roughly none of them take 7th period. So, Clint and Kyle and Richoux showed up... and not long after that, I went ahead and came home. I pretty much chilled the rest of the day until my late night bowling excursion, and lo and behold you're completely updated on my day. On tomorrow's schedule... such hits as a manicure, and a movie and dessert with Timmy Joe! Yea! The Princess Diaries.... mmmmmm.... hahaha. And that's all the news that is news... (17 days til move-out/move-in day)
8/16 One week remaining and counting... Anyway, life is pretty ok right now. A few different things going on. One is I am babysitting my nephews much of this week while Wayne and Maria attend to a more pressing matter... it has been quite fun, just hanging out with Adam and Michael. Good times. Tomorrow, however, I shall not be babysitting, as I shall be at Six Flags instead. Oooooh. I got two passes for the day when I got my free tickets to the End Of Summer Bash, featuring Mandy Moore and others. So, tomorrow is that, and Sara and I are taking the day off. haha. We're such hard workers, and all. I work tonight 5 till close... Let's see... what else is up. Oh, I'm published in the current edition of the United Methodist Reporter. I may reprint it here later, but for now you can find it at www.ntcumc.org alright? Well, I must go attend to Adam now... later!
8/17 Hi everybody... today is sort of a bummer day... it's raining. I'm supposed to be at 6 Flags a little later on today to see Mandy Moore and company at KISS's End of Summer Bash. So... we haven't left yet, (me and Sara) and we probably won't for a while, just because of the rain, but we'll still go, at least to the concert itself, even if not to the park. In other news, I'm about to get promoted at Crabtree & Evelyn! Can you believe it? haha I've only been working there for what, like, 3 weeks, not quite. Well, Dana told me last night that she's so impressed with me as just like, a good, dependable, quick-learning, timely person... she wants to promote me to selling supervisor. This means that I get keys to the store and I get authorization to do things like returns and handle complaints... and you know all those times when you go to a store and you ask the saleskid something and then they say "uhhhh I'll have to get my manager to handle that..." yeah well, that's me. Haha! AND of course I get a raise. yesssss. So, that was last night's news. In other news, I'm going to do a little shopping this weekend, just for stuff for the new apartment... new sheets and stuff. Nothing hugely major. Hm. Well, I think that's really about all... so... bye!
8/22 Well, let's see... what all is up. Life is busy and good, because it's always nice to have a well-occupied mind. And now, update mode. At work, I got the OK on Monday that yes, I am a Sales Supervisor, effective next pay period (Sunday 8/26) and I already have my key and all that. Monday they also let me close the store, which was ril easy (to me) and once again, that just impressed the heck out of my manager. haha. So, that's work... Last Friday, Sara and I did get to go see Mandy Moore at KISS's End Of Summer Bash, and I was so proud to be a Mandy Moore fan at that moment. It's always nice to see a pop girlie that isn't afraid to actually sing live, and who doesn't have every single toss of her hair carefully choreographed. Mandy was more band-oriented, sort of... you could actually hear the instruments and the fact that yes, that's them playing right now, not a tape... and she was set up as sort of a "lead singer" rather than as The Star. Just her at a mic at the front, but not in a I AM THE WHOLE SONG kind of way. I don't know... I liked it. ha. Anyway... let's see... what else is up. Tomorrow I move into my new place in Denton. Our check in time is crazy 1pm and so once we get our keys from them there, we can move in, I reckon. I think we're going to take like 4 or 5 carloads at once. Drivers being me, Sara, both of our Moms, and Pat. Because with a 1:00 check in time, by the time we get all moved in and such and are ready to go back and load up the cars again, it'll be rush hour and that'll be annoying. So, 5 carloads and that'll do it. At least for one day. Sara and I both have our choir auditions scheduled for about 9:30 am on Friday, and then my jazz audition is at something like 10:30. I'm hoping for Singers 1 this year, but we shall see. I will keep you all posted. Then, I will go back and get a car load on Friday, late morning, and then work from like 1-6. I'll then go back to Denton, unload, and head out to Carollton with Sara and Pat to see friends of ours, known as Blue 5, performing at CC's Coffeehouse there. That's from 8-10, and then our first overnight houseguests will be my lovely parents, who will be staying with us on their way to Wichita Falls for the Hotter Than Hell bike race thingy Saturday morning. Somewhere in all this, I'll need to get books and such... and get ready for real school, because that starts Monday. phew. OK, so let's see, what other news is there. In family news, Amber is visiting (that's Maria's sister, in the unlikely event that you're reading this and you're not related to me in some way) and she's cool. I don't guess I know how long she's staying, but it's longer than I am. ha. Michael hurt himself yesterday at school, playing soccer... he slid or somesuch, to get the ball, and there was apparently some manner of broken glass there, resulting in a 2 inch gash in my nephew's leg which was repaired with 13 stitches. Apparently it was really quite bad, but I never really got to see it... I just see the bandage. So, whatever... He apparently didn't cry though. huh! I guess he got something from the Worley side after all! ha. But, I'm guessing that's about all the news there is. I'll update after choirs are posted, for sure. Jazz I'll find out about Sunday... ACap, I think McCoy more or less puts returnees back into, but I'll find out for sure sometime this weekend or early next week, I suppose. That's all the news that is news though... later!
8/24 Well kids, it's update time. I'm all moved in to my new place, and it's so pretty! I'm very pleased. I am now preparing to spend my second night here. Right now, I write from the community computer lab, because the DSL folks don't come to install all that mess until Tuesday, and for that matter, the phone guys don't hook up that mess until next Wednesday. So, I have a phone number (which I left at my apartment, oops) but no actual, you know, dialtone. Ah well, overall, the place is very nice and I very mush enjoy it, and the lack of internet is good for me. Hmmm. In other news, today I had both of my choir auditions, ACap and Jazz. Apparently, the rumors are true, and once you're in ACap, you're in ACap. After my audition (which consisted of scales only, rather than the aria the sheet said would be required) McCoy simply said "we're not rehearsing the first couple of days, so we'll start Wednesday. See you then." heh. Jazz audition went pretty well too... I have high hopes, but won't know until tomorrow afternoon, sometime after I get off work, I suppose. We shall see. That really pretty much covers all the major news in my life just now... So, I'm going to head back to the apartment and resume cleaning and anticipating my parents' visit tonight! Woo-hoo! Later, all.
8/28 Hello friends! It's me, it's me! I have the internet now, in my room, in the form of the lovely and talented DSL. Woo-hoo! I am oh so very happy about it too! Let's see... I've now had two full days of school, and things are looking promising for this year, at least so far. Let's recap, in chronological order. First of all, those choir auditions. Yes, I am in ACap... and I'm also a member of UNT Jazz Singers now! Can you believe it? AAAAAACK! I am so pumped! AAAAAACK! Ok, but anyway... chronological class order. First is Woodwinds methods, which looks like it could be challenging, just because I'll have to learn how to play an instrument I've never played in my life, and I won't actually get to take the instrument home. And I'm not the type to just bust out on clarinet or whatever in a room of people I don't know or barely know, and screw it up and not be at all self-conscious, you know? So... luckily, Mom reminded me that we have a clarinet, as well as possible access to a sax. So, yea... maybe I'll get those two instruments. Second class is English Diction, which will be cake. I'm not worried. Third is Pop Music in American Culture which I can tell I will love, just because hi, have we met? But, to confirm, my teacher opened class on Monday by projecting the cover of the newest Rolling Stone on the screen and proceeding to discuss the magazine (which I read cover to cover) in detail. yessssss.... Also Monday I had Theory, which will be challenging, of course, because hi, it's Theory IV, but it looks like my teacher will try to teach us stuff. He seems pretty decent. Also on Mondays, I will have Phys Ed, but I wasn't registered for that yet as of yesterday, so tomorrow will be my first day of that. Same with ACap, which we haven't started yet, but the first day will be tomorrow. Mmmm. Ok, so now my Tues/Thurs classes. First is Piano IV, which could be tricky, because this is the proficiency, kids, but I think I can do it. Scales will be the hard part. Once I get past scales, I think I'll be ok. Ok, so after Piano is Aural Skilz, which is one of those classes that is hard and everything, but I seem to do pretty well at it most of the time. My teacher seems pretty hard nosed, but I think it'll be alright. Just because I'm pretty good at it and I don't skip a lot. And gosh, how pathetic do you have to be to skip a 10:00 class? yeesh. Ooh and then after that, today I had my very first Jazz Singers 1 (JS1) rehearsal. We are so good. haha. I mean, I'm just so impressed by just, the fact that I somehow managed to sneak into this group. I remember hearing them sing at like, IAJE, and other times that they came to PESH or when I saw them before, and it's just like... I remember being like... "these people are musical gods and goddesses" and now I'm in that group? Riiiiiiiiiiight. Ha. But really, I guess that's all my classes. Only thing that's left is voice, which I'm hoping to be able to schedule on Tuesdays sometime, but it won't start until next week. So... I guess that's about it. Sara and Damien and I hung out after Grand Scream tonight and had dinner and stuff. It was cool. But really, as of just now, it's pretty late, and I'm getting up at about 6 every morning... so I should head bedward. More later!
FUTURE PLANS
11/19 I turn 20 and have my first JS1 performance, for the NASM
