a summary of my activities in april 2001 write me!
4/2 Hi everyone. I'm just writing super quickly just for the sake of writing in April. I'm really just about to go have some lunch, and then maybe I'll come back and actually do a little updating or whatever.
4/3 Hello again! I'm actually going to update now! It's a busy busy week... and such weeks promise to continue until mid May when I'm done. My main concerns this week include such hits as Vocal Jazz Forum on Friday, and a Conducting test on Thursday. I just got off the phone with J.R., my co-performer for forum, and we've scheduled a rehearsal for 10:30 tomorrow night, after my session with ACap. [sigh] Long day tomorrow. And I don't get to go to Plano. Ah well. The only good news is I don't have choir practice all this week, because of our massive session tomorrow night. For those of you that are like "huh?" ACap is recording a tape tomorrow that we will use to submit to things like TMEA and ACDA and whatever other festivaly conventiony things we would want to sing at or for. So, that's from 6 to 10 tomorrow night. And after I wrap up there... I go to Lab East to practice my "tunes" for forum. My conducting test as well as an Aural Skilz sightsinging thingy and a Music For Children presentation will be the next morning. Thursday night I think I have a recital to attend. And Friday I have Forum. Immediately after Forum, I will have to high-tail it to Plano to be at Mac Grill by, I assume, 5. Saturday, I'm told there's an all-employee meeting at Mac Grill, and then I'll probably be working that night. Sunday is Palm Sunday, both services, plus all the normal afternoony things. And then I'm sure next week is stressful too, I just haven't taken the time to figure out how stressful yet. But really, that pretty much covers my life right now. Pretty much the only other remotely interesting thing I've done lately was recolor my hair on Monday. Same thing... tropic. It had been a little over a month, so the roots were starting to get to me, and the color was fading anyway.... so now it's back to a nice dark purple. And that, quite honestly, is all I can think of to report. So... bye!
4/6 Hello hello. Writing from Plano tonight after a long day of school and work. I had quizzes this morning in theory and piano, both of which went pretty well. In Jazz Singers practice, we did Operator today for the first time since Spring Break or before I think.... I was pleased... It will be a good solo for me. And at 3 this afternoon I had my Vocal Jazz Forum, which went very well in my opinion. I sang Stormy Weather, Summertime, and Orange Colored Sky, in that order. I got a lot of compliments, including some from people whose opinion I really truly value, as jazzers. Like, Paris said some really good things and so did Rosana, and a couple of the girls in JS1 came over and told me they thought I did really well, so I was happy. The only bad comment I got was on the comment sheet that Paris wrote for me, in which he said that I sang too strong too much of the time... which, you know, is this really a shock to anyone? That I'm singing too loud? nah, not to me anyway. ha. Well, after that, I went to Plano and went to work. I was a foodrunner again tonight. Which means extra tip money, kids. yea! yesssss..... then I came home and watched the video of my forum, and that's really about everything I did today. I am way tired. way. tired. So, I think I'm going to throw in a small load of whites and go sleep. So, g'night!
4/9 Long weekend, followed by a long week. Today is Monday, and here's what's in store for our heroine this week. Today I have class class and more class, most notably a voice lesson WITH my flake accompanist, who seemed to think he'd be able to work me into his busy busy schedule today. ergh. Also big on today's schedule is a second interview with the Eagle Ambassador folk. Ooh ahh. Tomorrow I should get back my conducting grade from Thursday, and I also have a nutsy Aural Skilz keyboard quiz. Also, tomorrow night is The Return Of Grand Chorus! Ack! They gave us the semester off, pretty much, but we have two rehearsals in April, one tomorrow and one in two weeks on Tuesday, to prepare Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Ooh ahh. Wednesday I will once again not be going to Plano, as I have to go to the Men's and Women's Chorus concert. I have to get the recital credit and write a conducting observation. And again I say, Ooh ahh. Thursday... Thursday I wouldn't be surprised if I end up in Plano, because I'll probably have to do some kind of paperwork with Romano's to make sure I can get off work A-OK for Friday. I'll have to find someone to pick up my shift, and I think that involves my signature on something. So, who knows, but I may be Plano bound Thursday night. And Friday, ah good Friday, no, really. Good Friday Clint is coming for a visit (huzzah!) and... I don't know what we'll do but I'm sure it will be entertaining. Friday evening I'll be back in Plano to sing with Chancel Choir at the Good Friday service. This is all assuming I can get off work at Romano's with no problem, which I will begin calling about sometime a little later on today. Then, it's the weekend. Also on this week's non-scheduled agenda... FINDING MY STINKING W-2'S! ERGH! Yes Daddy, I'm working on it. I love you! heh heh heh... Well, I need to head on now kiddos, but I'll catch you later
4/17 Hello again, everyone... Today I write during what would normally be my Music For Children class, but as it turns out, today was the first time that I've been in a class that actually decided to use the famed "10 Minute Rule". So, we left when Mrs. Hudnall didn't show up. And now I have an hour off! Wowie! Not too much news going on really, just the basic stuff.... school. Today I have conducting here in a few minutes and then I come home again... then this afternoon is studio class and then I'm rehearsing with three of my fellow JS2 girls to work on doing "And So It Goes" for our concert on the 27th. And then after that, I think it's just Buffy on my schedule. Well, I have an algebra test tomorrow, so there will be some studying tonight. But that's really it for today. Tomorrow is Clint's 17th birthday, as well as a Wednesday, so I'm coming into Plano. But, I actually have to run to class now... how time flies... More later, perhaps.
4/18 Well, today was a good day.... quite a good day. I had theory this morning, which was fine, followed by algebra in which my teacher decided, based on a number of distressed emails from confused students, that our test would be moved to Friday instead of today. Then piano, in which we worked on scales, progressions, and open score reading, all of which are improving for me. Then German Diction, which was fine as usual. Then JS2 in which I had probably my best performance to date of Operator, after which we had a rehearsal of our quartet (me, Macarena, Susan, and Temple) which is doing And So It Goes. I love that song. Then I had a shortened choir rehearsal today because it was a doctoral audition. Then I came to Plano, hung out with Clint and a few of his friends for a bit on account of his birthday, did dinner with the youths and went to choir and came home. It was just a good nice day. This was also the debut of Dark Terri. ha. I was dressed in mostly black today and wore sort of semi-goth makeup... it was an experiment. I actually didn't really plan it too much, but I just sort of ended up wearing all the black.... and then the eyeshadow just sort of happened.... and then the lipstick... Anyway, I got a number of comments today about my appearance. Ranging from "cute" to "pretty" to "really nice" to "dark" to "goth" (Sundquist actually told me I looked "very goth"... how surprised was I to hear those words come out of his mouth?) to my personal favorite, the slightly-inappropriate-for-this-page-but-hey-give-me-a-break-I'm-nineteen "bitchin'". hahaha That was Syble from JS2 by the way, before anybody guesses wrong on who said that. But yeah, it was a good good day. And tomorrow, should be decent too. Dictation quiz in Aural Skilz, which will be fine. Followed by Music For Children (eh) and Conducting, in which we're supposed to finally get back our test grades from 2 weeks ago. No choir practice tomorrow or anything, but I do have a sectional with the girls from JS2 at 5, followed by another work session on And So It Goes. And, that's my day. =) I think right now, I'm going to wash my face and go to bed. So, good night to all.
4/23 Hello to all... writing at the end of a pretty decent day. A little stressful maybe, in its own there-is-no-possible-way-to-accomplish-everything-you-need-to-do kind of way... I guess the highlight of my day today was my rehearsal with Susan, Maca, and Temple on And So It Goes... we rehearsed in the hall, under the stairs by Jazz Lab East, and the reverb was like nuts so it made us sound all neat and ethereal... it was really really pretty. So, we sounded good... but of course it'll have to be like a completely different thing on mic. So... we'll see how that goes. But, as far of the rest of my day... kinda stressy... I have 3 weeks of school left. My first class officially ends on Friday... Jazz Singers II is over in my life after the concert. Next down will be German Diction, I suppose, which ends with me sightreading a poem on either Monday or Wednesday. Next down is piano, the final for which I have Wednesday the 2nd at like 10:30. Then my voice jury is Thursday at 2:24. And ACap and all things choir is out of my life after we sing the presedential gala on Friday the 4th. Theory, Algebra, Conducting, Music For Children, and Aural Skilz all end during exam week I think, in roughly that order, but I'm not sure which days which things are for sure. So, right now, I'm giving priority to piano and voice, which means I'm working on my harmonic minor scales, and memorizing my voice rep. I really have quite a lot to memorize. Six crazy songs. Yikes. hmmm... Tomorrow I'll be going into Plano during my early afternoon, because I left most of my possessions in Plano. Like, I have no makeup, no clothes. Yeesh. So, I'll go pick that up tomorrow. But I'll have to be back in Denton at 6 for a rehearsal, so it'll be a quick jaunt. In the meantime, Mommy, Daddy, if you're out there, I need money, because I've been writing hot checks to my accompanist... so... I just thought I'd let you know. =) I know that by the time you read this, it means that Dad's at work, but maybe I could get a check from Mom at some point tomorrow? heh... maybe I should email you this info instead of posting it on the internet... hmmm... what a concept. Anyway... that's pretty much all the news that is news. Sara's birthday is Thursday and I still really don't know what I'm going to get her. Maybe I can hunt down some of her crazy pizzas tomorrow... that would be nice of me. hmmm. That's really about it from me. I'm going to go to bed now... it's almost midnight. So... that's all!
4/28 Writing today from Plano on my random hour and a half off of work. I'm hostessing a double today, so I got a random slot of time off from 3 to 4:30. I'm really tired today for no readily apparent reason. I had my Jazz Singers II concert last night and went out to eat at the Tomato afterwards with Mommy and Daddy. Then, I more or less came home and crashed. Well, no, actually Sara dragged me out to visit Pat at Starbucks at some point around 9:30 or 10.... and then I crashed. This morning I got up in just enough time to wash a little load of darks so I could have black clothes to wear to work today. I came straight from Denton to work at noon. And that's pretty much been my day so far. This promises to be a pretty boring weekend, since the vast majority of my Plano resident friends are out of town. My Plano resident friends being my church friends, 3 of the major 4 are out of town on school trips. Andrea is still around, but Danielle is in Orlando with PESH choir, Ethan is in Anaheim with DECA, and Clint is in Corpus with band. So... that just means I really get to work on my voice songs and my harmonic minor scales! yes!!!! heh heh. Well, really that's about all I have to report. I think I'm going to go ahead and get offline so I can lintbrush all the cat hair off myself before I go back to work. So... I'm gone. Later
4/30 Awwww..... is it the end of the month already? yeah, yeah it is. And in April, you know what that means? It's Maria's birthday! Happy birthday Maria! You know what else it means? It means finals are HERE! ACK! So far, I've got 2 classes officially over, one that might as well be over, and by the end of this week I'll be done with 5 of 10 classes. The ones that are finished are Jazz Singers II and German Diction. Choir might as well be over, but we still have to sing on Friday for the President's inauguration, so I guess I can't consider it over yet. Piano ends Wednesday... voice ends Thursday. All my other classes end during Exam Week itself. So, it's going to be a busy couple of weeks.... but you know what, it's only a couple of weeks, so there. [sigh] Today I had my German Diction Final, which went fine. I'm expecting an A in that class. Sara passed her piano proficiency today, which led to lunch out at Tia's, which was GREAT! And here's why: At lunch everyday, at some point, they do this crazy lotto lunch thing, where they draw a ball out of a cage. If it's a number, then the table by that same number gets their lunch free. If it's a "D" then they threaten to make the whole restaurant pay double unless they all dance the salsa to the Tia's Muzak. And if they pull the 1 "F" out of all 60 balls, then the whole restaurant gets their lunch free. Well kids, they drew the "F". It was outstanding. So, hurrah! It made my day. Then I came home and took a nap. And after that... well after that is now. heh. So, I guess I'll go get my May page set up. And that's all from here!
