4/1 Well, it's officially April now... not much going on today... just a lazy rainy day. One of those bright rainy days. I kind of like it. Today, I'm practicing my ear training by transcribing all 5 parts to "I Thought She Knew" using the cd and the SNL performance... I'm roughly halfway through now I think.... It's really interesting. I'm quite proud of myself. But that's it for today....
4/4 I finished my transcription last night... I am so proud of myself! So now I'm trying to get it onto Finale in the Music Lab and hopefully I can get it in the mail to the rest of the members of *N Stynct today or tomorrow. =) In related news, the real *N Sync is on Leno tonight... In real life, this promises to be a busy week... it's starting to look a little like the home stretch, so things are going to be busy for probably the rest of the month, etc... I updated a bit of the webpage... just my profile. Nothing major, just a few little changes you might notice... mostly just an increasing obsession with *N Sync and a crush on one of the guys... =) he's pretty.... I may put his picture up here... it's my wallpaper now... in fact.... I'll put his picture right here:
4/5 OK, so he's pretty, right? I told you! Now just to make sure everyone fully realizes my stance on Lance (that rhymes, ha)... I think he's pretty, and I think he seems nice and like a generally good person, based solely on what I've read about him and what I've seen etc... all of which I realize may be completely fabricated, media bias, blah blah blah etc... I'm not obsessed with him, I'm not actually going to marry him (duh) and don't actually think I would have that opportunity, etc. I'm not completely off my rocker, promise. Just for everyone's info... So to those that were sad to see my site take a turn toward the teenybopper side of things.... hey! It's part of my life today and yesterday or whenever I put up the picture, so there! A teenage girl is allowed a celebrity crush every now and then! And how many have I had? Mom, Dad, how many posters of pretty boys were ever in my room? That's what I thought! So There. haha... Sorry, didn't mean to get so defensive.... =) Anyway, *N Stynct is preparing our music... fun for the whole family... I'm enjoying it. Our first (and only?) rehearsal will be this coming Monday... all six of us will actually be here! How exciting is that?!?! I personally am writing a paper for Music in the Human Imagination right now (I'm taking a little break to update the page) while I listen to the new *N Sync on random play in Sara's boom box. Funny story... Sara's boom box has issues, troops.... it's crazy! I think that when I tell it to play random, it says to itself, "ok, well I'm going to pick 4 tracks and play them in a random but repeating order." I find it funny. I'm currently listening to track 6 for at least the third time tonight... and I know it hasn't played some of the tracks... I know it hasn't played 12, or come to think of it, 11 or 3 or 5... hmmm.... muy interesante... But anyway... there's not really that much going on in my academic life... I mean, there is, but it's pretty much not as interesting as the random play feature on Sara's boom box.... and that should give you a pretty good idea of just how "interesting" things are around here... haha Oh, just for anyone's info... I will be staying in Denton once again this weekend (two in a row! wow!) despite the encouragement to come back to Plano from a few of my friends... I actually have a couple of recitals I need to attend on Friday and Saturday.... it's part of my grade, so you know, that's just the way it is... my apologies to anyone who really wanted to see me... particularly Thomas... sorry! Maybe I'll get to see her perform another time... =) I will most definitely be home the following weekend however (duh, *N Stynct!) Ah well, anyway... I had best get back to my paper...
4/6 Finished the MITHI paper, no prob... easy shmeasy.... I just finished cleaning up the room a little bit... we'll have company on Monday when we have *N Stynct practice.... Other than that, I'm trying to memorize my six songs for voice juries... things are going well, but busy as expected.... I'm updating the future plans section to reflect that.... the only thing I can think of besides that is that I colored my hair again. =) I like it. It's dark... sort of reddy... I think I've done this color before... but that's all the excitement in Denton.... so, hasta la vista
4/7 Well, I got my film developed, so there are a few new pictures on the Visual Aids section. Also, I re-did the backgrounds of the Academic, Schedule, Wish List, and Contact sections. That's pretty much it though... So... later!
4/9 Well, it's been a nice but lazy-ish weekend... just trying to pull together my part on our *N Stynct music.... it's weird... I'm having to switch octaves a lot... I shaved today and sort tanned for an hour or so... not the Plano tan that you pay to lay in box.... I opened the window and sat and read a magazine and dangled my legs out... it was kinda neat... I think I'll do it more often... what else... Sara got a new screensaver that shows waterfalls and sounds like them too, so I think we've started going to the bathroom about twice as much as normal... hahaha... But that's really all of tonight's excitement, so I'm signing off...
4/11 Well let's see... yesterday was our (stellar) *N Stynct rehearsal... so we had a lot of fun in our room... Bryan and Perry also came over for a few minutes... actually, Perry and all of us girls had dinner together and then Perry left for a bit while we practiced and eventually came back for a few minutes with Bryan. But we ran through all of our songs, and it looks like we're going to have right around 20 minutes of music, consisting of "And So It Goes", "Wide Open Spaces", "This Day", "Butterfly", "When You Believe", and "Workin' On a Groovy Thing" in no particular order... I think we're going to time it one last time on Friday and if we need to, we may add in a solo or something to kill time... But Lindsay and I exchanged *N Sync memorablia... I gave her my copies of TEEN and CosmoGirl as well as the SNL video, and got their Disney special in return... =) But anyway.... I had a great voice lesson already this morning.... things are really coming together... juries should go really well, I believe. I have a test and/or a paper coming up in most every class, I think.... at least it seems that way. I'm hoping to finish the Government paper tomorrow night so I don't have to mess with it over the weekend while I'm away from my computer... I have a project coming up in Music in the Human Imagination though.... We're supposed to do a critical analysis of a piece of music that we weren't particularly familiar with before the class... and listen to it critically, etc... I think I'm going to do a little bluegrass just to freak him out. He'll be getting a lot of Schubert, I'm sure, so I think a little Bill Monroe or Doc Watson could do the guy good. I have a song test and an IPA test coming up in French Diction... Physics actually doesn't have anything coming up yet, thank goodness.... I have an Aural Skilz (I write it that way so it at least looks fun) quiz on Monday. And of course there's the project coming up for Sara's birthday... I can say that here because she never actually reads the site.... muahahahaha.... So, a reminder to my loyal followers... if you have ANYTHING SARA RELATED, give it to me!!!!! Thank you so much! Anyway, it's already almost time for choir... I can't believe I had so much to write about! Wow! OK... so I guess that covers it.... bye bye bye! haha
4/12 Well, the days are getting longer and the weeks are getting shorter, if you get my drift... but life is good in general... The nice thing about being really really busy is that you don't have too much time to worry about how busy you are... you just have to buckle down and deal. So, I'm about halfway through my Government paper... I am determined to finish it before the weekend, so I don't have to mess with it while I'm in Plano. But I'm taking breaks every now and then (like now) to keep my focus genuine, as it were. That's today's big thing. Tomorrow is opera night and then the weekend. This weekend I've got to be all about voice and piano on Saturday and Sunday, with my breaks devoted to the Sara project. Should be fun. =) One of my earlier breaks this afternoon was devoted to the composition of a brand new *NSync letter. Basically, I've decided that once I finish sending out the ones I have printed already, I'll change it up, just to keep life interesting. We'll see. I've just got to come up with a new envelope for it somehow so that they don't pass it over as the same old letter. But there's plenty of time for that. Hopefully, I'll get a reply before I have to send out the new letter. But, should I send out the new one, I'll post it up here as I did with the other. One interesting thing is that I did add the address of this page to my letterhead... not that that would necessarily mean anything whatsoever. But Sara did bring up the fact that if I'm trying to convince them that I'm not a crazed fan, then maybe the website is something they shouldn't see. But then, would they actually visit my site? hmmm... The jury's still out on that one. But, in the event that it should become an issue, I contend that I've explained my "Lance obsession" pretty well on this site. I mean, he's cute, he seems nice, and he's my first official hopeless celebrity crush. But it's no big thing. Anyway... sorry... didn't mean to ramble on about that. This site is very interesting like that... I sometimes have a hard time drawing hte line between family update and personal diary. hmmm.... I think I just went over to the diary side of things for a second there... haha oh well. I really don't have much else to report... So I'll sign off now... much love to all...
4/17 Well, if you're reading this, it must be the 18th or later.... and if you're in the Plano area, it is my duty to tell you, you may be in grave danger.... Happy 16th Birthday Clint! Just kidding.... I remember people joking about clearing the sidewalks when I turned 16. That gets so old. But let's see.... did I mention the fact that I'm really really busy? I think I might have mentioned it.... I'm trying to keep up the Academic section, but it's hard.... none of my teachers post grades like they did at IU, so it's hard to tell... but anyway... no real news to report and it's late so I'm signing off already...
4/18 OK... so now for all the news I didn't take the time to post yesterday. Let's see... the *NStynct gig went really quite well on Friday... I think they really enjoyed us. Watching the video of it, there's like about a hundred million flaws, and my bass voice isn't really all it's cracked up to be... so it added up to a lot of fun.... but regardless, we enjoyed ourselves and we had a great dinner at the Olive Garden afterwards... we were in our cocktail dresses so we said, what the heck, let's go somewhere other than Chili's or Friday's for once. Imagine that. We had fun with the waiter, but I won't post all that there... blah blah flirting etc etc. It was fun bonding time for the six of us. I spent much of Saturday working on the Sara video... putting together a rough cut, etc so as to shorten my time actually spent at the video place, since they charge by the hour. And I went out again Saturday night with Lindsay... Golden Chick, yum. And I taught her the Bye Bye Bye dance. =) Oh and we came up with what I consider to be our best inside joke to date... and that's quite a competition, might I add... I forget how we got to this, but we were talking about *N Sync of course... and I guess just how very squeaky clean they would have the public believe that they are... part of the Boy Band thing I suppose... and somewhere in there we were talking about WWJD bracelts and all that paraphenalia.... and somehow.... like I said... I dont know how.... we decided that the WWNSYNCD? bracelet would be the coolest thing ever. haha. It sounds sort of sacreligious now, I know... but I still kinda think it's funny. So... Lindsay now has a keychain (well, she should get it in the mail tomorrow) and I have a bracelet that I'm considering turning into a keychain. I think it's great. But that pretty much covers my non-school related activities... oh, except for my new diet. I'm now putting myself on that crazy no carbs diet. I just finished the second day of it. All I've had to eat in the last two days is hamburger patties, grilled chicken, some random lunchmeat, that sort of thing, and Diet Cokes. (Romy and Michele allusion: it's this new fat-free diet I invented... All I've eaten for the last three days is gummi bears, jelly beans, and candy corns....) Don't you wish you had my discipline? hahaha But seriously, that's it from here, so I'm signing off now... g'night!
4/20 In all reality I'm writing in the wee morning hours of Friday the 21st. I got a relatively decent nap today, so I've thrown myself off... but oh well, at least it's the weekend coming up and not the beginning of the week. I have my fun Bill Monroe paper due tomorrow, which isn't due until 5, so I'm putting it off slightly. Basically, I started writing, thinking that it was a three page minimum... but I just re-read my requirements and it says "brief essay, no more than three pages". So as of this moment I have almost a full page of just intro, as in I haven't really touched on the main point of the paper.... And I have plenty to write about and it won't take long... so I'm going to sleep on it and try to thin it down to a nice concise little paper in my mind, and then figure out how to do it for real. Let's see, what else. My Physics test on Wednesday was not bad at all... I was pleased... I haven't checked yet to see if the grades are posted... I don't think he ever posted our last test online, so I doubt this one is. ha. The French test also went well... an "A-". Juries are only a little under two weeks away, which is CRAZY! I can't believe how close the end of the semester is... I swear it feels like it should still be March, with Spring Break just coming up... I don't know why... It looks like most of my exams are actually during exam week, unlike at IU, where I think I only had two exams during the actual week. But from what I can tell, I will have one or more every day that week with the exception of Tuesday. yeesh. Oh, I'll try to keep updating the Academic sestion... I have at least one final grade thus far! Let's see... my no carbs diet is going pretty well.... I don't really know if I can tell a difference... not that I necessarily should be able to after 4 days... I'd actually be a little scared if I had woken up this morning and been like "hey! I dropped 10 pounds!" I mean, come on! yikes! What else... oh I went and got advised today... it looks like I'll probably lighten my load a tiny bit next fall and just take 15 hours. I feel pretty ok about that, because I think I may take a course in summer school this summer, AND get this.... she told me today that counting my 17 hrs from IU last semester, my 4 hours of AP credit from Music Theory, and an expected 6 hours of credit from AP English... that, plus my work this semester.... well, that's quite a few hours. Therefore, she tells me that if I take 17 hours by the end of the calendar year, then I'll be a junior in December! Neat, huh? I think so. Of course, not like I'll actually get out of here before 2003 or anything... we'll just have to see. So I'm going to figure out if there's a class I can take at CCCC over the summer.... just some little thing... maybe a US History. We'll see. Oh, and I'm also considering auditioning for Jazz Singers next year... The bad news is that if I try to work it into my schedule, it really locks it up... well, not BAD, but it's still a bit inconvenient... it takes a good two hour block right there. But we'll see... chances are, I wouldn't really have to worry about that happening. =) In the meantime, I've discovered the joy and wonder of napster. I love it! I'm slowly but surely building a stellar NSync collection on Winamp, not to mention a bit of Indigo Girls and some other stuff. I'm looking into hunting down some of the Swingle Singers' stuff (a la last year's Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, etc)... it's really pretty cool. I enjoy it. But anyway... I suppose that pretty well covers it, so I'll sign of now... g'night!
4/24 Well, tonight was Lance's lovely performance on 7th Heaven... moving, no? Well, ok, so maybe acting isn't his strong suit... =) But it was a cute show anyway, and a nice little guest appearance. Other than that, today was just the beginning of the last three weeks of school, which means that from here on out it's stress-ville... Does this seem similar to last two weeks worth of updates? hmmmm.... But I've got a choir concert tomorrow, then Wednesday I have an IPA test and of course it's Sara's Birthday, Thursday is another choir concert. Piano quiz Friday. Total Harmony show Saturday. Aural skilz exam part one Monday. Expressions show Tuesday. Jury Wednesday. etc etc etc... get the idea? So, anyway, I'm going to head to bed already... I figure being well-rested is the key to survival this time of year... if you just deprive yourself of rest, it's like a death wish. So, that's NOT my plan. I will update more another time...
4/27 Well, I made Sara cry! That was the goal, and I am here to tell you kids, the goal was acheived! Right now she's playing the Pong game that Pat got her... I think that will be a more regular occurance around here now... she's something of an addict. Sara enjoyed her day yesterday quite well, I think... she got my video, Pong, flowers, a balloon bouquet, Diet Cokes, several phone calls and e-cards, and $100 from her parents who also took the two of us out to dinner at the Olive Garden. It was lovely. A good day, for sure. Right now, I actually should hasten on to choir practice... So, I've got to go for now... I'll update more later...
4/30 Well, I've just returned home after a wild and wonderful weekend at home in Plano. I got to see the Total Harmony show yesterday, and it was really very good. I was quite impressed... the program there at Williams has really grown a lot since I saw the first Jammin with Java Show back in 1998. Man, I sure can make myself feel old sometimes when I want to... yeesh. Anyway, to recap my weekend... I got home Friday and my mom and I went to go see Music of the Heart (finally) at the discount theater in Plano. I love that movie! I love music teacher movies! So, Saturday the family coerced me to go on a leisurely bike ride... supposedly just to Hoblitzelle Park and back. That would be about 6 miles round trip, I would guess. Maybe a bit less. Well, I was tired, and my allergies were bothering me, but I said what the heck, six miles isn't too big of a whoop. So I went and once we got to Hoblitzelle, my mom was like "oh aren't we close to Baxter Street?" or whatever and convinces us to go looking for someone's house... So once we got there, Dad is like "Oh we're awfully close to Connemara... we should go" so we did. And once we got to Connemara, they saw a bike trail that they hadn't seen before, so we took it to its end... at which point we did some fun all-terrain biking... dirt path... over a fallen tree... across a field of long and highly pollen-infested grass... to a subdivision under construction in ALLEN! MY PARENTS MADE ME RIDE MY BIKE TO ALLEN! I was kinda ticked. But, I'm seriously over it now, and Dad, don't worry, I'm not bitter, it just makes a good story. So, Dad, if you apologize to me one more time, I will retaliate... somehow. I'm trying to think of an appropriate way to relatiate against your father for apologizing too much... and I'm drawing blanks. But, regardless, Dad, don't apologize. =) hee hee hee... So then Saturday night we went to the Total Harmony show, which as I said, was quite good. After the show, we rented Mr. Holland's Opus, another movie that must be required viewing for my major. It was lovely. Then, this morning we did early church and then went to Wayne and Maria's church for their worship service. Both were highly enjoyable. Then we went out to Tia's for Maria's birthday celebration and then Chuck took me to Borders and Half Price Books to go CD/book shopping, but I'm so broke I couldn't even buy the *N Sync Christmas album I found for only 8 bucks. ah well... that's just the way it goes, I think. But that pretty much covers my news here, so I'll sign off...
