Dreams of Tomorrow

Part 19:

You look from the chairs to the mirrored glass and you act on impulse. Even if the observation room is full of people, its door is unlikely to be locked. Anything's got to be better than being at these people's mercy.

You pick up the chair, only peripherally aware that the bulky waistcoat is restricting the motion of your arms. With all the force of your anger and fear you throw the chair across the room and into the glass.

The crash is possibly the most satisfying sound you've ever heard. Glass splinters fly through the air and instinctively you turn, raising an arm to protect your eyes. Then you turn again, already beginning to run, all your motions stretched as if you're running in slow motion.

The site of a barren wall where the mirror used to be brings you crashing to a halt. It was just a mirror! You cant believe it at first but then your brain kicks in.

How stupid would they have to be to make such a basic mistake. Numbly, your eyes scan the room and for the first time you see the CCTV cameras that are all they need to keep you under observation.

Glumly, you walk to the center of the room, mirror glass crunching under your feet.
