Leg Markings

This chart shows the maximum amount and height for white to be labeled as that marking. Markings will not be straight like this, nor will they be smooth all the time, this is an example.

1. Coronet - Coronets are white markings that surround the hoof on the coronary band and may only extend up two inches. They may have colored spots called coronet spots or band marks.

2. Fetlock - Fetlocks are white markings that only come to the top of the fetlock, which can't be seen in tiniquines because of the long feathering that covers the area.

3. Pastern - Pasterns are white markings that only come to the top of the fetlock, which can't be seen in tiniquines because of the long feathering that covers the area.

4. Sock - Socks are white markings that go half way up the cannon bone area, or lower leg and never reach the knee.

5. Stocking - Stockings are white markings that may go all the way up to the knee or hock. It must stay below the hock for the tiniquine to be considered a solid and not a paint.

Any markings above the knee or hock constitute the tiniquine is a paint/pinto, not solid.
