Katherine walked through the forest carefully. It was her turn to hunt, and her village really needed the food. She was stalking a deer when she heard one of her fellow sisters. When she turned back to continue following the deer, it was gone. Katherine shrugged her shoulders and took to the trees. She ran in the direction of the voices. When she reached them, she stopped and looked down. She saw Daine, her fellow sister talking with Sueko, one of Ares' henchman. Katherine gasped; they were talking about attacking her village! She couldn't believe that one of her Amazon sisters would betray them like that. Just as she about to jump down and kill Daine for her treachery, she was transported somewhere. All Katherine could see was darkness all around. Then all of a sudden there was a bright flash. She shielded her eyes from the light. When Katherine looked again she saw two people, Ares and Hades. At the sight of Ares, Katherine drew her sword. The next thing she knew she was on her back with the point of her own sword pressed against her neck. Katherine scowled as she looked at her attacker. At the sight of his face, she remembered the attack on her original village, the village she had lived in before becoming an Amazon. It had been about three years ago, yet she remembered it like yesterday.

An army had attacked the village, burning all the scrawny, straw built houses, and killing anyone and everyone who tried to stop them. One of the soldiers had been about to run her through with his sword, when he had jumped in front of her. His name had been Keptan, he had taken the sword for her, and he should have been dead. A wound like that is not something you can get up and walk away from. She had sat with him until he had breathed his last breath, and whenever she had escaped a near death situation, she couldn't help but thank him. Thinking that he was the reason she'd survived. At the moment she finished remembering this, Hades cleared his throat, signaling that something more important was at hand that had to be dealt with.

Hades and Ares both told her about Daine and Sueko's evil plans. While they talked Keptan watched Katherine's reactions. She showed no signs of disbelief, as if she knew all of it already. When Hades and Ares finished Katherine nodded her head agreeing with their assessment of the situation. When she asked them what they planned to do about it, their answer surprised her. She backed up in disbelief, no way could she be a good enough warrior to defeat Daine and Sueko. She had just started training with a sword two months ago. At that thought Keptan came up behind and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. At that moment, Hades and Ares vanished, leaving the two of them alone. Katherine took a step forward, as if to ask them if they were kidding, but she was too late. Keptan handed her sword back, and drew his own. Katherine raised her sword, and tensed for the spar that she expected to ensue. Instead Keptan lowered his sword and his head. Katherine looked inquisitively at him. She was trying to figure out was he was doing, and lowered her own sword. At that moment, he swung into action, dealing blows with such ferocity, that she was jarred with every blow. Soon enough, he was defending against her. Keptan's eyes widened. Ares had been right, she was the chosen one. He couldn't help but wonder if she was going to let Ares entice her, into becoming his warrior queen. With that thought, she threw one last blow, one that if he hadn't been prepared would have knocked the sword from his hands, and placed him at her mercy. She then vowed her life, to save the world from Daine and Sueko. Keptan was astonished, so much bravery in someone who seemed so weak and meager. Her strength came from her heart, not her arms, or muscles like Daine, or Sueko. But like him, her strength was one that not many could wield. Not many could take the power to do good that was inside everyone and turn it into something physical. Once again he was proud to have given his life to save her, and wished that he could stay longer than until they were finished. But once Daine and Sueko were stopped, he was going back to the Elysian Fields, to live for the rest of time, in the fields of eternal happiness. Though he didn't understand how he could be eternally happy, when the one person he had loved since childhood would most likely be walking around in the world of the living, unless something went horribly wrong. At that thought, he was transported to the underworld, where he stood in front of Ares and Hades.

At the sight of the two gods, he shook slightly, wondering what they could possibly want. He was doing what they had initially asked of him, he was helping her learn how to fight with a sword. He couldn't do more than that. It was then that Hades spoke. He went on about how, if Keptan and Katherine both did their jobs right, he would consider letting Keptan back into the world of the living, as a favor of sorts from the gods. Keptan's eyes lit up, he thrived at the idea of being allowed to live again, fulfill his life. When asked if he agreed to the idea, Keptan nodded and was transported back into his and Katherine's room of darkness, where there was only enough light so that they could see each other.

At the sight of Keptan, Katherine's heart skipped a beat. She had thought she was never going to see him again. She jumped up and gave him a quick hug, then blushed and backed off again. It was then that the room was engulfed in a blinding light. Hades appeared and said that the time to act had come, and that he was sorry if they weren't ready, but he had no choice. Then as if it were nothing at all Katherine and Keptan were transported to her Amazon village, where it was her job to raise the army against Daine and Sueko, or at least to try. However, she didn't have to put any effort into it, the army was already raised, at its head stood Ares, as proud and ever vigilant as ever. At the sight of Katherine and Keptan both, he disappeared, leaving only his voice telling the mighty warriors that their true leaders had arrived. The Amazons let out a mighty roar and raised their swords towards Katherine and Keptan. At that precise moment, Daine and Sueko attacked. The first arrow pierced Katherine's thigh. As she yelped in pain, Keptan quickly shielded her from further arrows. At that moment, both army's disappeared. Keptan quickly helped Katherine to her feet as Daine and Sueko rushed forward. They were barely able to unsheathe and raise their swords before Daine and Sueko attacked. Daine and Sueko attacked fiercely, yet they were an equal match for both Katherine and Keptan. Yet neither side could know what the fates had planned. At almost the same moment, they all wielded the fatal blow. Katherine to Daine, Keptan to Sueko. However, their destinations couldn't be more different. While Katherine and Keptan spent the rest of eternity happy in the Elysian fields, Daine and Sueko spent their time in Tartarus, forever condemned for their incorrigible acts.
