This piece of parchment is very old and brittle. The writing is
definitely elven, though it is barely legible because it is heavily
smeared with blood. The letter reads:

Dear "Marquis" Kanchelsis,
      I find it amusing that you now style yourself as royalty, my dear,
half-brother. But if you think that I will hand over my kingdom for
the return of my queen Laurina, you are sadly mistaken. We would both
rather lay down our lives than to turn it over to you and your foulness.
If you do not return the queen to my side before the sun goes down,
I shall personally see to it you are brought to justice!
