This dusty, gray tome has been made with great care and is in very good shape. There is a one word title printed on the cover: I M M O R T A L I T Y The book appears to have an index of some kind. The index is slightly smudged but for the most part it is ledgible. The Aging Process---------------------page.1 Brewing Youth Potions-----------------page.3 The Fountain of Youth-----------------page.5 Wishes from the Gods------------------page.7 Achieving True Immortality------------page.9 There are other sections to the book, but they have been marred by age and mildew and are illedgible. S e c t i o n I The Aging Process Of all the races of Doraak, the race of gnomes are probably the longest-lived of all. These sturdy, short folk have been known to live for up to three hundred years or more! The fair elves, though thought to be nearly ageless, are lucky to see their twenty-fifth decade of life before the weight of years presses them out of this world. Dwarves live nearly as long as do the elves, gaining two hundred years on a regular basis, though most attribute this to their stubborness more than their vitality. Humans of course are lucky to reach one hundred years, while the half human, half ogres of Lifgoth rarely live past their sixtieth year. S e c t i o n II Brewing Youth Potions Though once thought of as a fantasy made up by old men whose prime had well passed them and who yearned once again for that eternal energy and vitality of youth, it is known to a few most learned sages that this process is in fact a reality and has been used many times in the past by very powerful wizards and their lords. The brewing process is very tricky, and must be accomplished with the utmost skill. The ingredients are: the slime of a Pit Demon sealed in a jar of air; the skin of two score dragons (any color will do); a small piece of the brain of the world and the thoughts of a God. Mix these together in a witch's cauldron when the moon is full and while a chorus of angels sings over it and the brew is done. S e c t i o n III The Fountain of Youth Sought after throughout the ages and told of in many tales and stories, this mythical fount is probably nothing more than just that; a myth. No one has ever mapped the way to it and there have been no documented occurances of persons going off into the wilds riddled with age and coming back out again revived with youth. A few reports put the fount on the isle of the elves, but there are very few unexplored areas there for it to be hiding in. One rather fantastic account says that the fountain was once in the wastelands to the south but that while it was granting youth to those who used it the spring was draining away the life fro the land around it, hence the great plains of dust that are there today. But nothing has ever been proved about the fountain of youth, and probably nothing ever will. S e c t i o n IV Wishes from the Gods One way to roll back the tick-tick-ticking of the Clock of Years is to have one of the gods lift the burden of age slightly, which they will do on rare occasion and for a high price! Only the five True Gods can achieve this miracle; Aowyn, Cthuga, Shadow, Shiva and Lord Strydr have the power, and no others. It is said that for a grand prize one of them might be tempted to aid a mortla in such a way, but the prize must be invaluable. Many of the gods enjoy different things, but it has been writen by sages who are now one with the earth that the clean, white feather of a heavenly angel will soften the hearts of the gods and might give them reason to fulfill such a request. But killing an angel is not the way to gain such a prize; it must be gotten in some other manner. S e c t i o n V Achieving Godhood It is written that a few, very few, of the mortals of the realms of Doraak have attained the status of Immortality through their daring exploits, powerful skills and heroic legends. Those few who have attained this are forever immortalized in the Hall of Heroes, in the large port city of Torl. Those few include the brave priest Polian, the fair minstrel Belinda and the mighty Healer Perrin. Others may follow in their footsteps, but only time will tell if this is to be so...
