This book tells of the history of a small keep called Kah-leen, located
somewhere far to the south.  This keep was once the home of a group of
evil wizards who made pacts with dark powers.  To the homeland of one of
these powers they opened up a gate, from which they hoped to draw upon
the immense power of a certain demonlord who dwelled there.  The demon was
more cunning than they had anticipated, however, and instead sent his minions
through the gate and into the keep, ravaging the place and destroying the
wizards utterly in a chaotic orgy of blood and madness.  The keep now lies
in ruins, the book says, and the gateway into that demon's home plane 
remains intact and open to this day.
