This black tome is frayed about the edges and covered with thick dust. Its cover is of smooth black dragon hide, and its yellow pages are held together with what looks like long, fine blode hairs. The title, scripted in silver ink, proclaims the book to be 'The Manual of Fire.' A subtitle has been added in platinum printing that says 'A Guidebook for Initiates of the Flame.' The book contains five chapters, each detailing some aspect of becoming an Initiate of the Flame, and are numbered 1 though 5. Chapter one is entitled 'Servitude.' It's pages contain information on the worship of Cthuga, such as the wearing of black and red garb, the use of fire whenever possible, and the importance of undermining good wherever it can be found and by whatever means necessary. Also very important is the efforts of the Flames to seek out new recruits and help the church grow in power. One should carry this tome with them at all times if they want to curry the favor of the Lord of Flames. Chapter two is entitled 'Places of Worship.' Described here are the few remaining centers for worship of He of Fire. One is said to lie within the Fortress of Alhazred far to the south, in the Great Wastes. Another is said to reside beneathe the ground, deep underneathe the catacombs of the tunnel worms and beneath even the cities of the dark elves. It is to this place that all of Cthuga's faithful flock to worship and vene- rate Him, seeking to curry His divine favor. It is written also that from long-lost tales scribed by long-forgotten sages there lies a Palace of Fire, a Great temple to the Lord of Flames somewhere upon another plane of reality entirely, in a place of eternal fire where there is no night and the skies are constantly lit by fiery clouds and the ground itself is always alight. it is here that the most devout should go, to seek audience with Him of Flames and gain His powerful aid. Chapter three is entitled 'The Quest of Faith.' Know ye, oh Initiate of the Flame, that to serve great Cthuga is to know power beyond mortal bounds. But before any such thing may be granted, a test of faith must be undertaken. This quest serves two purposes. The first being to gage the initiate's faith, and the second to hinder the forces of good. You must bring to the great Temple of Flames the symbols of His most hated enemy; the Loremaster Undarius. Bring these two things to the altar and petition for He of Fire to come destroy them utterly, so that they might aid Undarius' causes no more. If this is done, and the initiate is seen as worthy in His eyes, then shall a most sacred treasure be bestowed upon thee. Chapter four is entitled 'The Quest of Flame.' Those seeking the favor of Him of Flames must prove themselves worth His time and attention, lest they be scorched to their very souls by His fires of wrath. The quest of flame is difficult and demanding, and the Initiate should take the time and precautions to see it done correctly and without loss of life. The ritual of blood must be performed upon the altar of skulls, deep with- in His mighty Temple of Flaming Death. You must use the proper instruments and the proper object, or else the Lord of Flames will laugh and cast you out of His domain. Seek ye that which He despises most; that is the object of sacrifice to be given. Seek ye also the Ritual of Blood, for only in this manner will your gift be truly accepted. Chapter five is missing! It must have been stolen long ago, for now there are nothing here but the torn edges of what once were pages in the manual. You must find them, if you wish further knowledge of Fire...
