Squall Leonhart        
This character is the "hero" of the game. He is a 17-year old with a scar that goes down his forehead. He uses a special type of weapon called a gun-blade, which (or so the rumors are going) will allow you to deal extra damage in combat by pressing the R1 button at specific times when he's hitting an enemy. Squall is not very much liked by others, due to his soloness and personality.

Laguna Loire  
Meet Laguna Loire. He is a 27-year old former soldier-turned journalist. He is said to be the complete opposite of Squall, and people like him wherever he goes. Some sources say that between Laguna, Squall and another girl character there will be a love-triangle that progresses throughout the game. Not much else is known about him, except that he accompanies Squall on his quest, whatever that may be.
