This ancient breed gets it's name from the Lipizza Stud, in Slovenia, where it originated. The body of the Lippizzaner is compact and deep with considerable depth through the girth. They have fairly short necks and shallow withers. Their actions are high rather then long and low. They have very powerful hind-quarters and powerful limbs. They are known for their hard feet and sliky tail and mane. Lippizzaner's are famous for being part of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna in Austria. Riders at these schools perform complicated steps based on the horse's natural movement. |
