Silence.

In her head, there was silence. Of course, there were sounds all around her: the footsteps into water echoing off the walls, the soft growling of her companion, the skittering of rats delving deeper into the shadows. But in her head, there was silence.

Willow couldn't remember a time when she'd ever had silence in her head. It was the curse of being smart. She would always dissect all around her, file it away for further examination. And if there was nothing around her, she'd pull out previous conversations and redissect them. But now, there was silence.

Tonight was the night. Willow would know for sure how Angel felt about her after tonight. She knew Spike worshipped her - he was the reason she ended up becoming the lover of two vampires.

She and Spike had been dating for a while when Angel entered into the relationship. It was no secret to the red head that the anger Spike felt towards Angel was mostly because of the intense love he felt for the older man.

She'd done everything in her power to please her mate, and managed to get the two talking. Once they worked through unresolved issues, the two vampires experienced a passion they'd not felt in over a century.

Somewhere during the rebonding of childe and sire, Willow had been pulled in. She was content on two separate relationships, as was Angel, but Spike insisted. He didn't want to miss a single moment without either of them. Besides, he enjoyed sharing them.

Over time, Angel and Willow had fallen in love, but it was nothing like the love Willow shared with Spike, or even the love between the two vampires.

Tonight was the night Angel would choose: She and Spike, or Drusilla. Willow could honestly say she was scared he'd choose Dru. She knew his demon loved the female vampire. And if he chose Dru....Willow doubted she and Spike could ever leave.

She glanced over. Angel's demon was on the surface, his hunting skills sharp. They were tracking Drusilla through the sewers.

"She's beyond this door," Angel growled. He spun to her. "Willow..."

"Angelus," she replied, looking into his golden eyes.

He pressed something into her hand. "The soul wanted you to have this."

She opened her hand and gasped. It was his ring, of red and white gold entwined - Willow and Spike. She knew at that moment that he had chosen Drusilla. "I don't want to be a vampire," she said suddenly.

"What?"

"If it comes to that. I would rather be dead," she answered.

He grinned evilly. "We can arrange that, Willow." His laughter echoed through the sewers. He grabbed Willow by the hair and dragged her into the lair.

Angel spotted Drusilla as soon as he stalked into the main room. <She's delectable as ever> his demon bucked. He knew his blond lover was off to the side, sulking.

Drusilla smiled at the dark man entering her home. "My daddy," she purred. "You came home."

Angel growled a satisfied growl. "Yes, Dru, I'm home. And I've brought you a gift." He pulled Willow in front of him, his grip on her hair tight. Willow closed her eyes, tears springing into them from pain.

"Bloody hell, Angelus!"

Angel looked over and smirked at his angry childe. "Spike, my boy, you honestly thought I would choose this human over my beautiful Drusilla?"

"And so you are going to leave," Spike replied coldly.

"It appears that way, now doesn't it?" Angel chuckled.

Spike assessed the situation. At first, he thought it was a trick, but he could smell real fear rolling off Willow's body. "Well, fine," he hissed. "You and Dru live happily ever after. Just give me Red, and we will be on our bloody way."

"I could," Angel said, "but I've decided that I want it the way it was. You belong to me, Spike."

"And Red?" Spike asked, his voice cold and hard.

"Dinner."

"NO!" Spike exclaimed. "Let her go! Let Wesley and Cordelia take care of her!"

"No," Willow said softly. "I'd rather be dead than know you are with Dru, Spike."

"See?" Angel smirked. "Trust me, my boy, this is the way it is supposed to be." He pulled Willow to him roughly and ripped into her throat.

Willow cried out in pain. Spike flinched, his body aching to kill Angel. Drusilla laughed in glee.

Angel pulled away, not having taken enough blood to damage the human, only to mark her. "I will finish you later, Willow," he hissed before pushing her to Spike.

Spike clutched Willow to him and looked down at her. "Baby..."

She looked up at him. "I'm so sorry," she whispered.

"Not your fault, pet," he growled, glaring at his sire.

Angel smirked and went to Drusilla. "My precious," he murmured.

"Daddy, you've returned," she giggled, her eyes shining. "The stars are singing tonight."

"Yes they are," Angel smiled, pulling Dru into his arms. He began to kiss her enthusiastically.

Tears streamed from Willow's closed eyes. "Bloody hell!," Spike whispered. She opened her eyes and gasped quietly.

Angel and Dru were locked in a passionate embrace. Somehow Angel had pulled out a stake, and was clutching it tightly. He stepped away.

Drusilla purred at him, not seeing the stake at his side. "I love you, Daddy."

"And I love you, Dru. I really do." He pulled his arm back and drove it into Dru. Her face registered shock before she exploded into dust. "But don't ever fuck with my family." He dropped the stake.

"Oh, goddess," Willow whispered, her mind trying to comprehend the fact that Angel had just dusted Dru.

"Leave," Angel hissed. "Leave me alone."

"Come on, pet," Spike murmured. "let's leave him alone....he had to dust his childe...it wasn't easy for him.... " He picked her up and carried her out.

*-*-*-*

"William..."

Spike turned from his perch on the ledge of the roof. "Angelus," he replied.

"I told you I'd never leave."

"Bloody hell, Angelus!" Spike exploded. "You scared the hell out of me! And Red? You terrified her!"

"I had too," Angel said softly. "If Willow knew my plan, Dru would have too. There is no way Willow could have hidden that from her."

Spike nodded his head in agreement. "I can't believe she's gone."

"I know," Angel whispered. "But she threatened my family, and always would."

"I'm glad she is gone," Spike said, shrugging. He threw his cigarette down and snubbed it out with the toe of his boot. "Now I can love Red in peace."

"And me?" Angel asked softly, stepping forward.

"You?" Spike asked, jumping down from the ledge to face him.

"You gonna love me in peace?"

Spike growled, grabbing Angel by the front of his sweater and pulling the older vampire to him. "I prefer loving you violently," Spike hissed. Angel growled approvingly and pulled his childe into a passionate, violent embrace.

<My existence is so good,> Spike thought before loosing himself in his sire's embrace.

END.
