We stayed at the Yalmakan Hotel in 1995 and in 1996. Since these photos were taken there have been changes. Hurricanes have decreased the size and white color of the beaches. The hotel has added a covered dining area north of the pool area and the hotel has become an all-inclusive place. We had a room that included a kitchenette with small refrigerator, sink, hotplate, toaster, dishes, and tableware.

We had a problem with noise the second year because we got a room on the lagoon side. This faced the airconditioning units below and the road. We had a lot of noise in the AM from buses and deliveries. We requested an ocean room and got one. Another problem was noise between rooms through the connecting doors. They were not well insulated for noise and many were near the bathrooms so we got all kinds of noises between rooms.

We treat each stay in Cancun as an adventure and put up with minor inconveniences because we spend little time in the hotel. The Yalmakan Hotel has a beautiful beach and pool area. They have an open-air lobby and the staff is terrific.
