We don't spend a lot of time on the beach so we decided to stay at the Laguna Verde Hotel in 1998. This hotel is a ten minute walk from the busstop. Between the stop and hotel is Pok-to-Pok golf course, Holiday Inn Express, and two small markets. We had beautiful weather in February with highs in the 80's and lows in the 70's the ten days we were there. The only rain we had was when we went ot the chatters get-together at Captain's Cove. While we were there a squall line went through with rain and high winds. When we left the sun was out and the weather great.

Our room was a suite with a front room and bedroom separated by a bath/dressing area. The bedroom had two double beds with terrible matresses that were very lumpy, a large closet, and 13-in color TV. We also had a small Gekko lizard visit us one night. There is an air-conditioner also. The front room had a kitchenette (with cooktop, refrigerator, sink, some pots, pans, and tableware), a dining table and chairs, coffee table, couch, patio doors onto a small balcony, and another air-conditioner. The two air-conditioners allowed us to have the bedroom and frontroom at different temperatures, very handy.

The pool was smallish and shaped like an "8". It had a shallow part on one end with a sharp drop to its full depth of about four feet. The shallow part isn't separated with a fence so it isn't safe to allow small children in the pool unattended. On the other end it had a swim-up bar. On the other side of the bar is an open palapa dining area where meals and drinks were served.

This is an older hotel that needs to be upgraded in places. We had bad matresses. Other guests had other problems with electric and plumbing. If the price is right I would go back.
