US Reg. No.
N25673
See below for images of the Continental Airlines
DC-3 that I took on 10/5/97 on a trip from Newark, NJ to Nashville, TN.
Meanwhile, here is a brief history of this particular aircraft:
In 1940, the Douglas Aircraft Corporation manufactured NC25673 in Santa Monica, CA. She was delivered to American Airlines on May 8, 1940 and assigned Fleet Number 73. American christened her flagship "Big Springs". American flew her until November 24, 1947 when she was sold to a small feeder airline called Trans-Texas Airways. Starting with a fleet of 3 DC-3s, TTA grew to a total fleet of 25 DC-3s and became know as Texas International Airlines. On February 4, 1969, NC25673 was sold to an aircraft brokerage firm in San Antonio, Texas. She was placed in storage and did not fly again until 1974, when she was purchased by Provincetown-Boston Airlines. PBA/Bar Harbor registered her as N130PB, operating her on its New England routes through November, 1988. On May 24, 1989, Continental Airlines acquired this aircraft under a lease agreement with PBA/Bar Harbor. Restored with Continental colors of the 1950s era, and registered N25673, this award-winning aircraft is again flying the skies with pride.
