Welcome to my tropical pages ![]() JANEYZEE'S LIGHTHOUSE PAGES PONCE DeLEON INLET LIGHTHOUSE and MUSEUM
The light is not the only attraction on the grounds, there are many other buildings which have been restored and set up as museums. The picture below shows the light as seen from the ramp next to the historic tug boat with the Second Assistant Keeper's home in the foreground. We visited that dwelling plus the Principal Keeper's and the First Assistant Keeper's Dwelling, and enjoyed all the interesting exhibits and artifacts in each of them. Outside the Principal Keeper's Dwelling is an odd exhibit, an actual refugee raft taken from local waters and left in the condition in which it was found. ![]() ![]() After looking at lighthouse pictures from all over the world in the Generator/Radio Shack, we went to see the lighthouse lens exhibit in the Ayres Davies Lens Exhibit Building. One of the most gorgeous sites, in my opinion, was the old Cape Canaveral lens which is housed in the center of that glass-walled building. This lens is a beautiful first-order Fresnel lens which was taken from the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse after it was determined that the vibrations from the nearby rocket and shuttle launches were damaging the lens. I've also included a picture of the gears from that lens.
![]() ![]() ![]() This lighthouse is one that shouldn't be missed, it's gorgeous. I'm glad we live so close so I can visit it again. We have become contributing members of the Ponce DeLeon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association to help ensure that this light is around for others to enjoy for many years to come. More great pictures of this light can be seen on The Lighthouse Hunter's Ponce Lighthouse page. Brian and Amanda visit lighthouses whenever they can and their pictures are wonderful.
