TURTLE TRACKS
"MOJO'S TRACKS"
DAY 29:

Location: Mojo has not moved from his previous location. He is still hibernating in the area of very dense briers where I found him on day 14. At that time he was partially buried in the leaf litter under a 3" diameter American Holly tree. As you can see from the above photo his transmitter and a small part of his shell were visible on day 14. Since that time more leaves have fallen and totally covered him under about 4 inches of dry leaves.
Activity Status: Inactive and in hibernation.
Habitat: South facing slope on the northern edge of the old field. The tree cover is a regnerating forest of young American Holly, Dogwood, Poplar and Red Maple and with a ground cover and understory of Greenbrier, Multiflora Rose, Blackberry, Blueberry and mixed grasses.
