WOW! Check out the lodge decked out in lights for Christmas...and just look at the earthshine from the moon over Earthshine...amazing huh!
Take a look at the Opossum that was out behind the barn a few days ago--isn't he cute!
In Early December a very special person visited Earthshine--his name is Moss B. Moss has created a blog to help make everyone more aware of the plight that our planet's wild creatures are facing. Moss is taking action to save endangered wildlife so please check out
and read all about it then do YOUR part to help save the Earth's wildlife before they are all gone.
Speaking of wildlife take a look at this Whitetail buck deer that walked through the middle of the field between the lodge and the cottage on November 29th! It didn't seem to care that I was standing just 30 yards away with a group of 15 people and two donkeys!?! The male donkey Boo boo didn't like the deer and was soon in hot pursuit--at a safe distance! Soon the buck turned to face Boo Boo and he put on ethe brakes--turned around and ran away! I guess we know who is boss now don't we. The deer calmly munched on some grass and soon walked off into the forest near the high ropes course. Boo boo was happy he left and we all felt privaliaged to have been able to see such a beautiful animal that obviously did not feel threatened by our presence. He must have somehow known that Earthshine is a wildlife sanctuary.
Check out the new road sign I had constructed and then installed on the entrance road to the lodge!
Here's another sign I designed for Dr. Billy Hagler, a past guest of Earthshine, who owns the land where Bones the box turtle lives.
On an unseasonably warm day in mid November I was checking on things in the Turtle Enclosure when I heard a buzzing sound...check out the video below to find out what I found...
After a few days of temperatures in the low 70's and then a night of heavy rain the temperature dropped into the mid 20's one night. The next day reached a high of only the mid 50's...but Rose the box turtle still decided she needed some sun. I think she could use a bath!
She had been buried under the grassy ornamental plant behind her for a few days but I suppose the lure of the warm afternoon sun was just to much to resist.
Rowdy has been under the same log for at least two weeks. I think he has decided to stay there for the winter.
